FOR OR AGAINST AMUSEMENT PARKS ???
Please, I need help for my research (because almost nobody helped me (just see the message «Information about parks industry» in the message board))
Do you have good arguments to be FOR or AGAINST amusement parks, with study, experts quotations, statistics...... May you give me arguments in two sections? Thanks.
My e-mail is pratsi_goldman13@hotmail.com
Here is an idea for you.
Why don't you do you own research, instead of asking other people to do.
Anything else you would like to ask?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw this.
If we're on a rollercoaster board, aren't we obviously FOR parks? Uh-hello *does a hair flip*

You're going to need the quotes from experts in the field. Although we may know a lot about coasters, we're not published and we don't have management credentials.
And quit complaining. No one is obliged to help you, especially if you get pushy.
That topic is kind of broad. I'd suggest you narrow it down.
What aspect of the industry are you interested in arguing about? Ride safty? Park Policys? or anything else you can think of?

OK !!!!!!!! I'M REALLY SORRY !!!!!!!!! I DIDN'T WANT TO MAKE THIS EFFECT ON YOU !! OK, I'll do it alone. I didn't want that you make all the research for me (sorry if you have the impressions that I was asking you to do all the work....). I just want help, only if you want to help me. It wasn't necessary to bitch me by message. Ok, I expressed myself badly, I'm very sorry. I was just asking you to help me, if you had informations or something like that.
You could be more respectful next time, and again, sorry if you felt hurt by my first message!
Thanks again for answering me
Ok guys, now, I can honestly say that Vinz's question is pretty vague, and, sorry, but pretty weird for this board. What is the point of the question?
But really, why did yall have to lash out like that? He IS doing research! Asking people, knowledgeable people, about a topic of interest to gather data and opinions is what he is supposed to do.
He was a guest to this board, and yall made a very bad impression for the coastering community. Chill out. A little teasing he might could have taken, but yall were out of order there.

Gee Joe, Everyone else starts the Bitchfest on this board and gets called out by you.
Glad to return the favor!
Chuck, who just didn't reply rather than shove the question back in his face.

Yeah, but how are you going to quote one of us in a scholarly paper? "Shaft STL on the Ultimate Roller Coaster message board says that...." If I was his teacher - especially if in high school - I'd want reputable sources from within the industry, or at least written publications on the topic.
I don't think anyone really lashed out. It probably would have different if he asked where to go for help on each topic, such as books, internet references, interviews, etc.
Maybe I'm just too used to my college days of meticulous fact-checking and fear of plagiarism.
This board can be so PC it's boring sometimes. I kinda miss the little battles people used to have with one another (Mommabeast...).

I don't agree. I think the reaction he got was deserved.
He is asking the users to do his homework and his question is vague. He is being a pest based on his reply. More importantly, this thread does not add any quality content or discussion to the board that may be enjoyed by all.
If you're going to use a message board to do your homework you have to be creative to engage the other participants. He certainly got the attention of a few and the reaction I'd expect. I don't think anyone crossed the line.

I'll help out:
I'm FOR amusement parks. Studies confirm..."they make people feel ...special... because they TEEM with a good time had by all!" (A.C.E. Rollercoaster! magazine - Spring; 1983 p.29)
(you can quote me: That's "T-h-e R-e-v-e-r-e-n-d")

When you say "park industry" - - are you talking about before or after the 2nd Golden Age? Just wondering.
-Rev
>
Hello. I trying to see the positive side of all your negative comments, lol !! I'll learn more about forum, how to start a good discussion, etc...
Also, if you want to write me by e-mail, write to coaster-guy@hotmail.com and if you want to chat with me, it's pratsi_goldman13@hotmail.com. Ok ?
If sometimes my questions are weird or strange, or vague, it's because of a principal reason: I'm french, so I write in English with the words that I know, so I can't always express myself correctly.
Anyway, what is the 2nd Golden Age ?
Vince
My new username is Vince, not Vinz.
Instead of doing all the research instead of me (like what some said), do you know internet sites or good references to answer to my question.
And I know that all here are FOR park industry, but maybe you have great arguments, or you know great arguments to be against parks.
Anyway, thank you !

What is your issue with me? I've hardly ever interacted with you and yet you've called me out many times over the past six months.
If you're trying to defend another URC'er, you really need to mind your own business. That's how that mess started in the first place, because I didn't mind my own.
I, for one, am tired of having to go on the defensive whenever you decide to go on the offensive.
I've displayed my email address and I'd appreciate it if you'd use it. I want to know what your problem is with me and how we can correct it. I don't want to drag this out here cause it's not appropriate.
This bs is getting old.

Vince-
Chuck was replying to your own comment asking who he was talking to. That's why he quoted what you said ("Who is he talking to?"), then added his reply. Just go back and read your last post, then his right after that. It should have been fairly clear.
And he suggests the European boards because there are some who post there who understand French, and who may also be able to give more answers to your questions that just what you'll find here.
A Frenchman! I should've known from your OUTRAGIOUS accent!
> Anyway, what is the 2nd Golden Age ?
The first Golden Age of Coasters and Parks began roughly around the time of the turn of the century (1900) and ended roughly around the time of the great depression (early 1930's). By around 1929 there were - if my memory serves me - about 1500 wooden coasters in the U.S. alone. Only a comparatively small remnant of these coasters from the 1st Golden Age remain in existence.
The 2nd Golden Age had its early roots when Walt Disney put in his famous park in Anaheim, California which soon featured the first ever steel tubular coaster (Matterhorn). Later (in the early 70's) the first new generation wood coaster was built at King's Island, Ohio. Hence, the "2nd Golden Age" of Coasters was born. This 2nd "Golden Age" lasted up until just a few years ago when mean-spirited, sarcastic JERKS (who will remain nameless) started making fun of fun-loving coaster riders like us. Because of THEM many parks all over have run into financial problems and some have even closed. Some say it isn't completely because of THEM... I'll let you decide.
BTW - Do French people like the classic rock band Steely Dan?
Just wondering.

Secondly, I don't understand the story of the end of the 2nd Golden Age due to people talking together about a subject that interests them.
Finally, what does BTW mean and I really don't know Steely Dan. So, sorry, I can't help you for that question.

I don't understand you not understanding. I tried to explain the best I could. Sorry if it's too confusing.

Steely Dan is a really excellent band made up of the two core members Walter Becker and Donald Fagan. They've been around for a long time and have an excellent discography. I encourage checking them out.
