THE DRIVE
Don't let anyone --and I mean anyone-- tell you HotLanta is an 8 1/2 hour drive from Indianapolis! Mapquest, MSN Maps and Directions, Yahoo Driving Directions, and Rand McNally Driving Directions websites gave anywhere from 8 1/2 hours to 9 1/2 hours estimated drive time allowance. IN YOUR DREAMS! Took us about 12 hours.

Now, I will be fair in my anger; truthfully, we did arrive AroundLanta 8 hours after we left Indy, but don't let that be confused with being ATLanta. By AroundLanta I mean just that: AROUND THE DANGED CITY stuck in traffic for 3 - 4 hours. First we heard mention on the radio of an SUV that had flipped over. But in talking to the locals once we finally arrived INLanta (ok....Atlanta!), we learned that bumper-to-bumper traffic like we had just experienced is quite the norm for this busy metropolis, accident or not.

I now know why this Momma refers to the city as HOTLanta, and it ain't the weather either! It quite nicely describes that sticky place right under my collar in situations such as these.

Oh, and let's not forget the fact that while all printed directions advised me to look for Exit Number 17, Exits went from 16 to 18 --- NO 17 IN SIGHT. (They've since been updated, so I'm told).

And this little ditty (after stopping for directions when we couldn't find Exit #17): "Oh, you're looking for Young Street...well...that's been changed to Cumberland Parkway...." Aaaaarrrrgh! Not a happy camper...but taking it all in stride as this promised to be a fun trip.

I called the hotel from the gas station parking lot and explained our plight. The manager apologized and said that the websites had been giving out wrong directions and they should have said to take Exit 15, not 17. So, she guided us to the hotel via cell phone which meant getting back on the clogged interstate. It was still quite a long wait in traffic before we'd finally meet face to face, but finally, after what amounted to about 12 hours, we arrived at our nice and cozy Comfort Inn and Suites/Smyrna.

Oh yeah (and this one really bites)...I forgot to mention the speeding ticket I got in Tennessee (right after I called you on the cell, Matt!!). Although I accept full responsibility, there really was a reason for going over the speed limit (and I dutifully explained this to the officer): It was coaster season, man, and we were in need of our first fix of the season!!! No, I didn't say that (in so many words, anyway, LOL)....I told him the truth: I'm used to having Cruise Control in all my vehicles. This one doesn't have it and I got careless. Period. I knew when I bought my brand-new Rally yellow sporty car with the big spoiler that it would attract attention! I should have known better. "Have a nice day," he said as he handed me the $90.00 ticket.
Aaaaaaaaaargh!

THE HOTEL
Whew...finally here and boy are we dog-tired. Hungry, too so we figured we'd check in real quick (everything had been prepaid), freshen up in the room, and turn around and get something to eat as long as it did NOT entail getting back on the interstate!

The owner of the hotel recommended Ruby Tuesday's about 4 miles up the road. We readily agreed since it didn't involve *ANY* interstate travel! LOL

Tired and uninspired, we dragged our little bodies and suitcases to Room 126. My oldest son dropped the electronic key into the slot and opened the door.
What happened next fits so nicely into what was fast becoming a comedy of errors.

Gasps, shrieks, a scantily-clad woman sitting on the edge of the bed, and a half-naked little toddler darting across the room greeted our non-believing stares.

Quickly, my son shut the door. By this time, I was laughing so hard I had dropped my suitcase and was on my way down on one knee (laughing so hard). Making our way back to the front desk, I explained to Ms. Owner ala Goldilocks that 'someone' had been sleeping in *OUR* bed. She looked puzzled, called the room and wanted to know why they hadn't vacated.

Seems it was Ms. Owner's gaffe as the tenants had extended their stay and she merely overlooked it.

So...let's try this again. Ahhh...room 129 this time...past the pool...WAIT! That surely wasn't the pool, right? Lemme rub my eyes. I specifically booked a hotel with an indoor swimming pool. And sure nuff...there was a cemented hole in the ground with water in it. But surely THAT couldn't be their pool. April Fool's, right?

For anyone who's stayed at Breakers Express, you'll know what I'm talking about when I refer to the HOT TUB that's outside next to their pool. It's a GIANT hot tub (probably seats 20 easy). Well, this 'POOL' at Comfort Inn was a teensy bit bigger than the hot tub @ Breakers Express. I'm not kidding when I say that our hotel room was bigger than their pool.

Although the hotel was pleasant and clean and the location was nice, the pool was a turn-off. Frankly, I'd never seen one so small in a big chain hotel. But the price was right - $40.00/nite which included a fridge, microwave, hair dryer, iron & ironing board, bigger than average TV with premium channels, free internet access, and a decent breakfast buffet. Good deals can be had through www.TravelDealsHere.com. I encourage you to give them a try for your next trip.
Regular room rates for the same accomodations were anywhere from $89 on up.

During the course of our stay (4 days, 3 nights), Ms. Owner tried to give OUR ROOM AWAY while I happened to be at the front desk. I heard the guest say, "129" as she looked at her key to which I replied, "WHAT?! That's *MY* room!"
Chalk up Error #2 to Ms. Owner. (But she really was a nice person, despite her 'forgetfulness').

PARKING @ SIX FLAGS
Heard of sticker shock? How 'bout PARKING PANIC? As visitors veer left towards the park off of Six Flags Road/Exit 46A, uniformed parking attendants complete with official-looking orange flags and cones waved us into their lot. "Nice," I thought as I looked over to my left and there very, very close was the front entrance. "Closer than PKI's GoldPass parking," I mused to myself. Their big 'Eat-At-Joe's' type sign proclaimed FRONT GATE PARKING. I like close. LOL
"That'll be $15 dollars please," she said with a smile. Meanwhile, I gandered a look-see at the lot right next to that one where the same uniform-clad people were waving flags and proudly proclaiming only $5 to park in *THEIR* lot.

"$15??? You're outta your mind. I fully expected to pay in the neighborhood of about $10, but $15 is highway robbery! What about that $5 lot over there?"

"Oh, you'll have to walk about 10 minutes to get to the park from that lot."

"Well, there's tram service, right?"

"No, ma'am. Not from that lot. You'll have to walk. About 10 minutes."

"So, for $15, you're gonna patrol this lot, correct? I mean I can expect you to watch over the vehicles, right?" (I was looking out for my brand-new baby).

"No lot is responsible for any damage or theft ma'am."

"But I would *EXPECT* this $15 lot to offer better 'protection' than that $5 lot. Right or wrong?"

"We'll watch over the lot, ma'am. No need to worry."

It was a very small lot --- probably max capacity was around 35 cars. So, I took the bait. Didn't want to walk anymore than I had to anyway.

Later in the day, I went to Guest Relations to inquire about such horrendous parking prices. Boy did I learn a-lot (pun intended). The $15 lot is NOT a Six Flags Parking Lot. Funny, the attendants sure didn't say they WEREN'T Six Flags affiliated I told the nice GR man. "Quite deceptive," I said to which he replied, "We get many complaints saying the same thing. But they own that lot and can do what they want with it."

"Maybe so, but Six Flags Officials should be out there to warn unsuspecting visitors that the SIX FLAGS lot is past the $15 lot and up the hill."

So...to be forewarned is to be forearmed. That FIRST lot you see is NOT Six Flags Parking. Keep going and veer right up the hill. Parking is either $12 or $10 depending on where you park. And of course, there is tram service from those lots.
I figured for $3 more, I might as well park close enough to spit on the front gates...and I did. Parking on Sunday went down to $12, by the way (in the non-Six Flags lot).

SIX FORKS OVER GEORGIA
Our SFStL season passes worked ever-so-effortlessly at this park. No vouchers to get from Guest Relations...nada. Just show your SP and you're in like Flynn. I like that.

This front entrance looked much like the other SF parks...shop-lined on both sides and then it opens up to.....

FORKS ...

...the first of many forks in the road I was soon to find out. This park has so many ins and outs and ups and downs and this-a-ways and that-a-ways that it boggled me mind.

The terrain reminded me of SFStL with all the rolling hills and lack of FLATNESS (hey, park designers, give us 40 y/o's a break, would ya? :>) Flat is nice. People movers are even nicer, but alas, I digress...LOL).

I was very impressed with the foliage! Trees, trees everywhere! Loved it. Lots and lots of greenery and shaded walkways. Truly a beautiful park. A little confusing to navigate, but a beaut to be sure.

We were at the park for 7 hours before we 'discovered' Gotham City! We had been meandering around the other 'forks' and didn't realize there was much more to see. Even the next day, we found ourselves 'discovering' new and different avenues, hills, paths, and scenery.

Especially breath-taking foliage could be found in the LickSkillet Section of the park---tall, magnificent lime green stalks...OH WAIT A MINUTE! THAT WAS DEJA VU, not some ornamental plant! What was I thinking?!?! Haahaa LOL,LOL Danged thing hadn't been running since the park opened this year. And there was NO ONE around it to even EMULATE some semblance of maintenance/repair. I'm jealous, Gary! I'll bet it was as fun as it looked.

THE RIDES

GEORGIA SCORCHER
With rides on King Kobra fastly fading from my memory, this here-and-now stand-up is easily the smoothest one this Momma's ever ridden. (I remember KK---it was fast, fun, and furious. But it is no more. Time to move on). We took a couple of rides on this one over two days (would've taken more, but SF's ONE TRAIN POLICY on Sunday really burnt me up!).
I still marvel thinking back how incredibly forceful yet ultra smooth this ride was! Truly amazing for a stand-up. My chest usually gets brutally beaten, then at some point, my head. Not this time. Not once.

Loved it. Only drawback is that it is too short --- like many of the rides at SFoG.

SHAKE, RATTLE AND ROLL

I'd heard much talk about the 'indoor scrambler in the dark' and must admit I was jealous that I hadn't been fortunate enough to experience one. A new element added to an old ride couldn't be bad, could it?
Well...while it wasn't 'BAD' by any means, it wasn't all I had expected either. First of all, it wasn't really dark. It was quite well-lit with film clips and psychadelic and black lighting throughout. The music, pumped in through Bose speakers, wasn't loud enough to decipher which song was being played (or was it too loud??).
But the big downer was the ride circuit; unbelievably short. GP and enthusiasts alike were jaw-jacking as they exited about how ridiculously short the ride was.
It did pack a powerful, FAST thrust right off the get-go, though.

SUPERMAN-ULTIMATE FLIGHT

My 2nd Flying Coaster --- X Flight @ SFWoA/GL being my first. I'm glad I have these two under my belt for comparison's sake.
Over the two days, Superman kept breaking down several times throughout the day. Our wait was 40 minutes due to a couple of 'technical difficulties' which wasn't bad at all, considering.
All in all, I found this ride to be quite thrilling and forceful, with front seats having the greater advantage VISUAL-WISE over back seats. There seemed to be too many 'flat' spots where this ride did absolutely nothing which seemed to be more prounounced if you were riding in the back. Definitely better in the front. BUT...personally, I found Superman to be quite uncomfortable. 'Hanging' in the station til the other train moves or the bugs get worked out was not my idea of "Whheeee! This is fun!" There was an inherent pressure on my torso and shins that I didn't like, either.

Now I only say this because of my rides on X Flight...which were ultra-comfortably padded. Plus, with X Flight, the rider is put into a supine position from a seated position in the station; there is no 'hanging' per se (except for the flying part of the ride). Travelling head-first, face-up up the lift hill and then being 'flipped' over at the apex is such an incredible rush that IMHO, X Flight just blows Superman-Ultimate Flight away.

A good ride, for sure. Just not better than X Flight IMHO.

Ninja

SFStL taught me to NEVER ride anything named "Ninja" ever again. But my rule of thumb is to try all coasters (even clones) because there are too many variables at different parks which could mean the difference between night and day with coaster riding. And my rule of thumb proved true on this one. THIS Ninja was no where near the S&M version that SFStL has.
Not too head-bangy at all --- I was surprised. Over the water visuals were terrific! Nice touch, SFoG.

THE GREAT AMERICAN SCREAM MACHINE OR 'GASM'

Wow...is this one beautiful woodie or what?!? It is a sight to behold; elegantly stretching its long lift beside the water, with its arms reaching far, far into the perimeter landscaping.
Red, White, and True Blue...a postcard in and of itself.
Ok..ok...enough about the cosmetic magnetism of this coaster. Onto the actual ride itself: Full of fun, little pops of air and an incredibly smooth ride for a woodie.
Major drawback: THOSE SEATS! Ugh...can someone 'save' this coaster and rip out that freakin' divider?!?!?
Forget 'Height Restrictions,' this ride should come with 'Width Restrictions.' And that from a tall skinny fella who sat behind me. I wholeheartedly agreed. There's no way a carbohydrate-challenged individual could fit comfortably in those seats. No way.
We figured how GASM got its name, btw: It's from that awful, ear-piercing SCREEEEEEEECH the train makes as it stops in the final brake run. Either that, or it's the SCREAMS of the passengers as they're jerked violently to a screeching halt.
LOL
Very nice woodie. Very bad seats. Very loud noises.

HANSON CARS

What a boring, short, circular circuit for these open-topped antique cars. I'll chalk it up to all the construction going on in that area (for their new 2004 rides). Quite hard to steer, too.

THE RIVERVIEW CAROUSEL

My daughter and I enjoyed a ride on this historic carousel---she on a high horse and me seated atop a plush cushioned 3-tiered bench. Ahhhhhhh......

GEORGIA CYCLONE

Quite smooth for a woodie (rides on SoB just seem to subliminally ooooze out of every comparative statement I make about wooden coasters, doesn't it? LOL!!). This one had alot of downtime over the weekend, too, which discouraged us from waiting in line for duplicate rides. Liked it; however it's not one that particularly stands out in my mind.

BATMAN THE RIDE

Second verse, same as the first....LOL This mini Raptor (I'm sorry, Raptor! LOL) packed an intense punch in a very short circuit. However, I'll take Raptor any day over the Batman rides. Fun, but the lines are too long and the rides are toooo short. Plus, there was an old gentleman who ORDERED us to sit 3rd row from the back after we'd waited 45 minutes FOR THE LAST ROW! No explanation; he just barked orders of where he wanted people to sit. MEANIE! J/k...
Actually, I liked seeing older people manning the rides. It was a refreshing change of pace. Except for this old fart. J/k, j/k!!
:>)

GREAT GASP

For the acrophobically-challenged like myself, this one is do-able. A fluent ascent, punctuated by a brief birds-eye view of the park, followed by a velvety-smooth descent makes this 20 story parachute ride enjoyable even for scaredy-cats like me! LOL

ACROPHOBIA

If you read my above statement, you already know I am afraid of heights. But I had to try this one...seen it on Discovery/Travel channels and worked my courage up to give it a spin (pun intended...you see, you 'spiral' up the pole...oh forget it!).

This Momma screamed on the way up, screamed at the top, during the tilt, while we waited to drop *and* AS WE DROPPED! Sheesh did this scare the bejeebers outta me!! The ride op singing "If you're scared of the drop, scream out loud" to the tune of "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands" cracked me up. He sung away while we waited at the top....IS IT MY IMAGINATION OR DOES THAT GYRO DROP *STOP* freakingly >close< to the ground???? EGADS...it got me.
I could only go on it once...but I'm glad I braved it.

LOOPING STARSHIP

Cool looking NASA-inspired space shuttle ride. I like this one better than Berserker at PKD. I heard kids from all over the park exclaiming to their parents that they wanted to get on that spaceship ride each time it would play peek-a-boo from behind tall trees. Poor babes...most were waaay too small for the ride, so disappointment met both parent and child upon reaching the Looping Starship.

Was there ever an investigation as to HOW that woman slipped out of a similar ride elsewhere and died? I've never heard another word about it.

DAHLONEGA MINE TRAIN

Quite long for a mine ride...traversing hills and valleys and sharp turns with ease. I like the last element---unlike PKI's, this last hill packs a punch! Fun, but once again, KILL THOSE SEATS!

MONSTER PLANTATION

Heard much about this, so decided to try it. Line-cutters early on spoiled it a little for me. These same line-cutters were responsible for getting their boat stuck/wedged in the station (can you say carbohydrate-challenged?) which ticked all of us off even more. The animation early on is cheesy and in need of dusting off and perhaps a little TLC. As the boat glides further into the darkride, the animatronix seemed to be a little better and less cheesier. Very nice despite the cheese. It was cold at night and our boat was filled with water and our feet got wet---YUK!
We enjoyed the boatride nonetheless. I prefer the Scooby boat ride at SFStL to this one, though.

TRAIN RIDE/SKY BUCKETS

Nice visuals via ground and sky. Wish the buckets took you over a bigger expanse of the park, though. Spiel on train ride sounded like one big high-pitched monotone. Can someone tell the girl to take breaths between words and to s-l-o-w d-o-w-n so riders can actuall HEAR and UNDERSTAND what she's saying? I love to learn about the parks I'm visiting. But I learned ZILCH from her.

SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST --MINDBENDER

Can I pretty please have one of these in my backyard? I literally THOROUGHLY ENJOYED everything about this ride---the visuals from the front seat were spectacular. The forceful whip from the backseat is just too fun to put into words. I love where this coaster is situated. I love its layout. I love how you're flung into the rider next to you after that 2nd loop-de-loop! It must be old from its tattered appearance...sure didn't affect the sleekness of the ride one bit. I will miss this one!!!

FOOD AND EATS

We found ourselves taking a special liking to the Miner's Cookhouse. Good food; juicy burgers, great fries. Plus the Cowboy show outside the front doors IS NOT TO BE MISSED. We caught two shows and laughed uproariously. Broccoli Spears? Christine Agamalaria?
Very funny acting troupe!

RANDOM FUNNIES

The cartoon in line for Superman (but I'm sure it's all over the park) with the 'naked' cartoons offering free body massages...uh....didn't quite jibe with SFoG's founder's original intent to HAVE A FAMILY-ORIENTED PARK RIFE WITH FAMILY VALUES. (I read that on a rock somewhere below the skybuckets). I had to have a chuckle over that one.

How about this page over the intercom? And I am dead serious---this came over the park's intercom (you should have heard the crowds as they started busting out laughing):
"Would Jeremy F**KER please report to Guest Relations..." and it was repeated about three or four times. Entire Q's of people were rolling in the aisles---looking at each other like, "Did I just hear what I thought I heard?!?!" True, the speaker may not have actually said the "F" word, but to every ear in SFoG land, it sure sounded like it. Funny! More of those 'FAMILY VALUES' leaking out. LOL

Overall, a wonderful trip to a much-anticipated park. We were not disappointed. Weather was fab both days...kinda cool at night, but better than Indy weather to be sure.

I didn't like the reduced-train operations on Sunday, though. Lines back up, people get frustrated and in the end what are you proving, SF? It only serves to tick off your paying patrons.

If you've lasted this long....YOU'RE DOING 100!
:>)

Bless you,
MommaBeast

Momma! I have to say, you're the equivilent of Clark W. Griswald when you go out of town, and please don't be mad, but I'm laughing my arse off right now as we speak. Fear not, we're in the same boat, my family gets nervous when i put up Christmas lights or can't find my cats when the tree is up.

In all honesty, I loved your TR, and you turn bad situations into some pretty good moments, a trooper in my book.

I haven't been on this one, but from the pics on RCDB, I'd want to ride this one for sure. Did they say at SFoG that it went upside three times, when it was actually two? Gotta love Antons!

Don't you know you mid-westerners aren't supposed to speed through the south. The way your car sounds, you might as well have had NJ plates.

I hate when that happens.

I agree, but it sure is one of the nicer Stand-Up coasters. My fav is still Chang.

A good comparison since X-Flight is much better than Stealth.

At least there is a tunnel on that one. The lack of the tunnel at SFGAdv makes it even more boring. I would take X-Flight/Batwing over Superman as well. They have better in-line twists, the helix is good, and that first flip at the top of the lift just adds to the excitement.

B&M needs to add a few more elements to their flyers to make them more interesting. And oh yeh, swing the seats back down immediately after entering the brake run.

I especially love the sea serpent on this one. Very well done. It's one of my favorite Vekoma loopers.

They should be removed from every coaster!

I'm not supprised to hear that, since not too many people talk about this one that much. I'd love to have one of these at SFGAdv. It's not in my top ten, but it wes still memorable.

Good for you. I'm sure your howling made the ride that much more fun for everyone else. And I mean that. I love it when people are screaming on the rides. Adds abmbiance.

Ahh, now you know what everyone's been talking about. How about that helix on the back side. Sort of a steel version of SoB's helix, only smooth. And I really like SoB's helix.

Don't let looks deceive you. The rust showing through the lime green paint is quite a clever disguise (coaster hogs prolly thought no one would ride it if it looked bad)...haahaaa! WRONG!
This is one awesome, awesome ride. And as for the inversions, who said it had three?

Thanks for reading and responding!

Ain't that the truth ! I was stuck on the brake run for just over 10 minutes on the one at SFGAm because they were having trouble with the train in the station.

UN-Com-fort-able ! ! !

10 minutes doesn't sound so bad if you're sitting on a coaster, but hanging in that position wasn't fun. The ride ops just smiled and kept saying we'll have you out of those soon..... I think they were rather enjoying themselves. j/k.

Momma, that was such a fun trip report. I got totally lost in it and even forgot that I am at work. I now feel so good that I think I will log off and take the rest of the day off. I'm going to go lay in the sun for the rest of the afternoon.

It was said in either RCDB or www.coastergallery.com that SFoG said it had three inversions, and I believe it something to do with that helix, and I apologize to anyone who knows what I'm talking about. Of course this was back in the late seventies when the looping wars began, I'll send you the link unless someone beats me to the punch. You're lucky though, I too have heard rave reviews about Mindbender, envious...

10 minutes is an eternity in those seats. I've been stuck for about 4 minutes which seemed like 20. Can't imagine what 10 would feel like.

Yeah, I totally agree. And do you feel as I do? X Flight doesn't get nearly the praise it deserves. Hardly anyone talks about it.

Yeah, what HE said...1000%! What dunderhead designed the ride that way? Obviously a non-coaster rider.

These were totally unbearable. Twiggy would have a hard time fitting her 'two butter beans on a shingle' in that little amount of space.
What's wrong with butting the shoulder, hip, what-have-you of your riding partner? I'd much rather jostle into soft flesh than those horrendous dividers!

I'm not supprised to hear that, since not too
many people talk about this one that much. I'd
love to have one of these at SFGAdv. It's not in
my top ten, but it wes still memorable.

It *appears* to be a really great woodie, but we all know looks can be deceiving. Mindbender comes to mind with that thought. :>)

AMEN, brother! I am so grateful to have been able to experience this one. And to think I kept getting MIND ERASER @ SFWoA mixed up with MINDBENDER! D'OH!
:>0
For some reason, I couldn't keep the names straight in my head. With both under my belt now, I don't think that will *EVER* be a problem again.

(I love the boomer Mind Eraser, too, btw).

How about that helix on the back side.
> Sort of a steel version of SoB's helix, only
> smooth.

All of the elements on this beaut were exactly where they needed to be with the right amount of punch. Everytime our train made it back over the Gotham City main area (where it stops for the final brake run), I was the one clapping. I was so impressed with the ride that on the 2nd day, I made it a point to approach the rather bored looking ride operator to tell him what a GREAT RIDE he had!

His face perked up a bit after that, I noticed. Be proud of your rides, operators! They bring so many smiles to the faces of so many people. Well, not if you're Orient Express or Vortex/PKI. Heeheee

And I really like SoB's helix.

Ah, a fellow SoB rider....such a wonderful thing to find a kindred coaster spirit! What's your fave seat?
6.2 is smooth as glass for me. I go for that one if the front has too long of a wait.

I did for as long as I could stand it which was about 30 minutes. I don't burn, well I can't burn, but I do soak up the heat. When it comes to heat, black people are like black holes out in space. When laying in the sun we keep soaking up heat but never release it. After about 30 minutes we would probably explode if we didn't move to the shade.

I watch it every day at 5:00pm some episodes are really good while other are pretty bad. Yesterday the bully flounder came to school. I can't figure if SpongeBob is a child or an adult though? That flounder in his class had hair on his chest and had a son out in the car.

Re: Why, Thank You, Capler!! by Capler at 4/8/04 4:20:51 PM

I just remembered my first encounter with SpongeBob. It was 2 years ago when I met Kevin Reid and clan at Carowinds. I noticed a bunch of yellow hunks of cheese, wearing pants and a tie hanging in one of game booths. I asked the boys about him. They looked at me like I knew nothing and quickly informed me that SpongeBob is no cheese.

As far as telling people to get off this board, or whatever your saying, well, sonny, you need to get a life and people should know how dangerous talking to you on IM is. Your capable of copying and pasting conversations on the board, and then want people to forget you did that? I guess that is petty? Throoughly enjoyed reading your TR several days ago.
Guess I should leave some sort of reply before this thread scrolls off the board.

It sounds like you pulled through pretty darn well considering the trip got off to such a rocky start. After twenty+ years of annual Florida trips, you can believe me that we have a few tales to tell, many of them involving the drive thru Atlanta.

Like once going around I-275 south, we were almost to the airport when traffic came to a stop. I could see traffic moving smoothly on some other nearby freeway that wasn't ours, so I drove across the grassy divider, went a few miles and got off at the next exit. Turns out we were on I-85 north so it was simple to get back on in the other direction and find an intersection back to I-75 south.

And a few motel stories as well. No offense, but was that desk clerk perhaps a natural blonde?

It sounds like SFOG is an enjoyable park (as SF parks go). Though I've often considered planning a stop there, we're always either in a hurry to get to Fla or to get back home.

It *IS* beautiful country, C-Screw by MommaBeast MommaBeast Profile at 4/10/04 11:13:29 AM

You are absolutely right...the scenery through KY/TN is truly spectacular. I was amused by the Springtime colors (lilac, purple, red, brown, yellow and green) and how --if you didn't know any better-- you'd swear it was Autumn.

Heck, I was in such a good mood on the way home, we stopped in to SEE RUBY FALLS! My Dad (God rest his soul) Mom and all my brothers and sisters made that same trek over 30 years ago...quite the memories!

I'll bet you've got stories galore...you really should share more of them with us, ya know!

ROTFLMAO!!!! Actually she was of the African-American persuasion, nary a blonde hair in sight. She truly was very professional and courteous (gorgeous, too)...she just needed SANKA that morning instead of Full-Bodied Roast. LOL LOL

That is EXACTLY why I made a special trip just for SFoG. I do the same thing every year on the way to Florida and back...in too much of a hurry to GET THERE or GET HOME. You hit the nail on the head, Rob.

You really must make it a point to get to that park.
You won't regret it. Plus, with all the new additions they're getting this year...it will definitely be worth your time. Most of the 2004 rides were still under construction when we were there. I s'pose the construction really picks up during the week when the park is closed because there was not an inkling of any on-going construction while we were there.

Thanks again for reading and adding your two pennies...

I do post regular posts more than attacks. I usually post to the "what are your favorite" posts!

Hmmmm. Should I do a search for Al W. and Chillforce? How about all the attacks "you guys" (as a group), harass Mommabeast.

Its one thing to point it out. Its another thing to call someone out on it, but dont call me out on it when you do it too!

Yeah, No futher comment needed? WHy do you post a link that has nothing to do with rollercoasters and everything to do with your sexual prefferences on URC?

Re: Six Forks Over Georgia -- 1st Time Visit; Trip Report by FREEFALL at 4/11/04 7:27:18 PM

I just think al is mean. You posted a good report and should not be attacked for it. I do have a question for you though, would you say SFoG is a must visit park or something to only hit if you are going to HotLanta anyway.

Matt - Thanks for the info Momma!

I agree. And evidently, Eric G. (the webmaster of this great forum) agreed also:

"...Your blatant rudeness in your response is insulting to me, the rest of the users and not becoming of a URC member. Either shape up by keep your uncalled for, rude comments to yourself or I will ship you out.

> and should not be attacked for it.

Thank you. And thanks to Eric G. for stepping in, also. It is appreciated.
:>)
Some people get their jollies by saying negative things about whatever I post. They'll probably do it after this post!
Life is so short and their rude comments are so petty.
In the scheme of things, what does putting me down (or my comments) do for them? In the end, they'll have to answer for it.

I do have a
> question for you though, would you say SFoG is a
> must visit park or something to only hit if you
> are going to HotLanta anyway.

Let me put it this way: we go to Florida just about every year. Every year we pass through HotLanta and BYPASS SFoG because (1) we're in too much of a hurry to get to Florida (for the beaches and the coasters), and (2) we're in too much of a hurry to get home. This is before I'd ever been to SFoG.

I knew I had to plan a special trip --outside of our planned Florida sojourn-- to check out SFoG. My son (14 years old) had expressed an interest in it after seeing its rides highlighted on the Discovery and Travel channels. And I *HAD* to try that Acrophobia!!

I am soooo glad we did SFoG. It is such a far drive for me that I probably wouldn't make a special trip to visit SFoG exclusively. But will I think about making a quick side-trip everytime I pass through HotLanta NOW? You betcha!

To me, it's more than "Oh well...might as well go to SFoG since I'm in Atlanta anyway," but less than making another special trip just for SFoG. I sure would like to try that DejaVu, though.

I don't know where you live, but if SFoG isn't that far from you, I highly recommend it.

Not to worry Great_Ump; he says to do the same thing about me (search MommaBeast's posts and see how hateful she is)...Ok, I paraphrased a bit, but you get my drift. I encourage *anyone* to search my posts; I have nothing to hide and feel quite confident I've conducted myself in a decent manner. Only recently have I actually started defending myself against my attackers...usually I just ignore them. I think I may start doing that again....IGNORING THEM. LOL

Umm, You were never attacked but decided that you ahd to jump in for what reason? Only to try and make a pesonal attack since I will not forgive an idiot. You tried to contact me personally how many times after you broke my trust, it is only after that you tried IM after IM only to learn, your an idiot from hell.

They are far and few, you only jump in to cause havoc, otherwise we hear nothing from your silly side of the earth.

You know, if I made a post about any of this in the past few months, then I would agree with you, I just decided that people want to read a coaster illiterat and ignorant persons point of view I would just let it go. That people still want to read trash and lots of LOLOLOLOLs, well thats fine by me. Otherwise, your judgement is wrong and unfair and also ignorant. Yet, this is no surprise, but I am sure you will see some other way to espouse hate as you usually do. Why don't you go fart in a queue house and blame it on someone else as you usually do. Oh Excuse me, you cannot own up to the truth, forgot that point.

Chuck, if Eric allows links to what people want to, you also have no right ask for that

I did that with you and I ended with your crap again. I am tired of having to get your bad vibes and I said nothing to your posts so your a lot of crap as well. Your deciteful and hateful, you like to pull the wool over people. Try getting some names straight in the future or face mockery. Start to learn your hobby or face having your feet tied to the fire. If I had said something, then thats fine, but I said nothing, i ignore you, have ignored you and you guys start this crap. I am over it, no nice time anymore, you start stopping all the LOlololololololol and start posting information or just say nothing, it adds nothing. This just started us again at laughing at you. I don't really like that, but you do it to yourself.

Ramses said that as well. His first born died, at the hands of God. I let him do my bidding as well

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, but you love having Stepford Wives doing your bidding to make you look squeaky clean. Your not fooling people

> Yeah...they poke and jab and stab at will and

Excuse me, but your e-mails to certain people are just as much the same. After all, when does one e-mail an organization, this documented by the organization and the reps, complaining about representation when one does not belong to the organization?

> Chillforce? How about all the attacks "you

The only comical thing is people that will still read a person that has no idea what they are talking about. This I can accept if a person is just getting into this hobby, but after 2 years of flaming and stpuid posts, I don't get it. The total ignorance of the poster is just plain wrong and all the LOLOLOLOLOLOLs is too hard to take. Man thats a lot of Jelly rolling.

The only thing sad is that you completely refuse to learn anything about your hobby. Oh the other sad thig and totally cemented after November is HOW FREAKIN STUPID one has to be to get lost in the queue at Dueling Dragons, we rechecked and there are signs pointing the way. That must be why my friends took 8 hours from Chicago to Hotlanta without speeding and without tickets.

Then again, a rookie.

Then again, if your Great Chump had not added me into this, I would have let this all alone and I would not have had to tell you your ignorant and stupid, nor would I have added how much of a dishonest person he is, well lets say total liar, so both of you can burn in hell together as far as I care. Post what you want but kepp me out of it.

I really should not have to defend myself at all here. This is just getting ridiculous.

4500+ people have viewed my webpage. AOL has not TOS'ed me for me webpage, nor have they EVER taken it down. As far as the "sexual preferences" are concerned, who the flying F#ck cares?? I am gay! Many others on this board are as well. My webpage has two pictures taken aboard rollercoasters, and two pictures taken of me from my professional career. There are also links to the organazations that I spend countless hours volunteering for...If you don't like the content on my webpage, no one is holding a gun to your head forcing you to read it.

I don't understand why you guys are always ripping into MommaBeast. I found her trip report to be quite interesting and informative. Now I know what to expect if I ever get down to SFOG. As much of a fan of antique car rides as I am, I now know that SFOG's isn't that great. Thanks for the great TR Momma and don't let these jerks get you down.

It's just getting flat out weird around here, and coming from me, I realize that's saying a lot. I wish Jackm50 would come on quickly and give us an update on the State Showcase Funpark. I keep leaving my ferret at Oswald's, too, and I don't know how to contact him so I can get it back.

Gee, even their website alludes to the same:

"...HANSON CARS
Easy-paced cars resembling early roadsters. (Under 42" must be accompanied by adult.)...."
Not much fanfare there.

It seems as though you are including me in the group with those who were rude to you. I'm not sure why since I was serious MommaBeast, but if that's how you treat people who are trying to stick up for you I'd hate to see how you treat your enemies. How exactly did you want the website to describe the antique cars? It's a car ride not an Intamin Rocket Coaster (that would be like Xcelerator or Top Thrill Dragster to the uninitiated). Antique cars are one of my favorite rides at parks and I was genuinely happy to know that SFOG's wasn't that great. Thanks again for the info.

awesome trip reprt, momma. You are a braver soul than myself though -- i turned tail and ran out of the queue for Acrophobia when I saw that the thing spun around going up. Mebbe this year i will be able to scare up the courage to get on the ride? We will see Memorial Day Weekend.
