Potentially Moronic Question: How do I turn off sound?
Well, terribly sorry for bothering you guys with such a question, but how do I turn off sound in RollerCoaster Tycoon 2? I need to be able to play it whilst talking to someone on the microphone, and I can't hear them if kids are screaming and rides are rolling.
Thank you in advance.

There's a simple answer to that one...turn the volume down all the way! haha! But if you need to listen to something else, I'm sure there has to be some way. Right now I dont feel like reintalling the game to let you know. I will if nobody else replies. But for now try I remember there being a options thing in the place where you can save your game. Let me know if it's there, if not I'll try to figure it out for you.

Well, yeah. I looked in the options, and I can only turn off music, like ride music. Sound effect-wise, I can only change my device and the quality of the sound effects. I checked the manual, I searched google. It's weird, doesn't anyone in this world want to turn off sound in this game? :/ I didn't even find some command line options. At least when I looked for playing the game windowed I found out it couldn't be done, but now I found absolutely nothing. I would really appreciate it if you could help me out, mape.

Ok, I'm installing the game, I'll try to find out if there is a way.

That's really weird! I didn't see anything. I guess there really isn't a way to turn off sound.
well i had this problem google a fix no one had one so well i came up with this one to fix it yes i have solved everyone's problem here!!
first off you need to download notepad++ //if you do not already have it"
get it here: http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v6.5.html
to edit the options.txt file located at
C:\Documents and Settings\"yourusername"\Application Data\Atari\RCT3
open the file with notepad++
at line 6,7,8 are the sound options set all 3 of them at 0.000000 the extra 0s are needed next
add these 2 lines above line 6
MaxMusic 0
MaxSounds 0
save and leave notepad++ open and start rtc3
then start a game once you have started a game scenario go back to the still open options.txt file in notepad++
you will possibly get a message saying
something like
another program has changed this file do you want to reload it
say yes then go back into game and enjoy PLAYING WITH NO SOUND!
also you will need to have this file open in notepad++ each time you start game or change scenario in case it tries to reload sound on you and ask you that again
