Sim:Theme Park
I want to know if Sim:Theme Park is any good at all. I was thinking of getting it and CF.

Don't qoute me on this, but i heard that coasters are much easier to build in S:TP (you don't have intensity issues to worry about) in which case I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole.
Trying to build a workable coaster in RCT was frustrating at first, but became the highlight of the whole game once I learned it. Plus, it's really cool to look at real-world coasters and see how closely their behavior matches that of RCT's physical modeling.
Well, okay--I might buy it for my 7-year-old, for whom RCT presents a steep learning curve (after a while, she justs starts drowning angry guests). But otherwise, I'm not so sure.

*LOL!*
Actually I review computer games for a living (I write for PC Gaming World which is the British sister mag of CGW) so I guess I am an expert! I've been playing it for two days now and have come to the conclusion that
RCT IS MUCH BETTER!
Yes indeed. Theme Park World, or SIm Theme Park as you guys call it, is slow, ugly to look at, fiddly and frustrating. I won't condemn it because the rides are made-up (rather than based on real rides as in RCT) since that isn't going to annoy anyone except us coaster loons. But the fact is, it really isn't satisfying to play, It's very kiddy in appearance and concept, yet the gameplay is too intricate and fiddly for kids. The next annoying thing is that you can't build coasters straightaway, and they're also not as satisfying. You can ride them, but on my 300MHz machine the first person view was so clanky I got really annoyed. I wouldn't buy it. As soon as I've written my review I'll take it off my hard drive and go back to RCT.

I am not a reviewer of any kind, but I like Sim Theme Park. As you point out, it is not as good as rct by any means, but this game is quite fun, and may be too difficult for children under 14. The one very good concept is the online game, where you can tour other people's parks, and win new rides which were not included in the game itself. I found it to be a nice change, although it does seem a little more "childish", it is still very fun.
