Is it me, or does anyone else want a nice little trainer for Corkscrew Follies? Get working out there!!!!!

I don't like the first few scenarios @ all. They are soooooo boring. I just want more rides to be selectable @ a time so it's funner.

It's far more satisfying to learn how to build a park and raise the $$$ to build 7000+ foot max. height coasters because you're JUST THAT GOOD.

I kinda sorta take offense at that. I played the original RCT the whole way through, got the Mega Park withOUT a trainer. However, when I came across it, not only was it easier to build the most scary rollercoaster I could come up with the money, I had more freedom to theme and make the park I had in mind. I didn't use it to own all the land, because that would make them all look the same. I didn't use it to gain any guests. Money was the only aspect I had used. Maybe you can give us unsmart, unskilled peeps a few tips and tricks. If so, I would like some for the CF Whispering Cliffs, I can't get the park value to go OVER $14,000 no matter which way I try, and I've tried it 4 times now.

...then you should only need one tip from me (besides the basic Chris Sawyer tips) -- the concept of the feeder coaster.

Resist the urge to set the world on fire the minute you start to play. Build a coaster with a full-sized station, no steep drops and as few lateral G's as possible close to the entrance of your park (banked turns at an elevation). You are aiming for LOW, LOW intensity and high capacity. Oh, and build it next to a walkway.

People will stream to it because they aren't intimidated by your coaster. It will make pure profit because you didn't spend much to build it AND it will build up people's tolerance for more intense rides.

Eventually, people who have been there a while will tire of it and start looking for your more exciting creations, which you will have the $$$ to build. Of course, you want to build the more extreme rides farther and farther away from the entrance.

I have a Mega Park with two coasters with 255-foot drops. One laps about 1/3 of the park and the other (a 7200-foot hyper) laps almost 3/4 of the park....all without a trainer. Actually, I got bored with it because I like starting from scratch.

I haven't played CF yet (though I'm picking up a copy on my way home from work), but for park value you should build your coasters without tunnels and save them. Then in that pivotal final year, you can demolish and rebuild EVERYTHING...eliminating all the depreciation of times past. See if that helps.

Ah, but see, we aren't talking Mega Park here... we are talking the FIRST scenario Whispering Cliffs. How about a few pointers there? I'd like to see your rollercoaster on that particular scenario.

...because of the selection of rides vs. the scenario objective.

Here's a clue: Park Value is a combination of the value of your rides/capital expenditures + the income you make from them. What makes this scenario so nasty is that most of the rides are mid- to low- capacity.

A good coaster or flume with 100 people in line is of dubious value 'cause you aren't making $$$ fast enough.

Think about that sentence. If you read what what I just told you VERY CAREFULLY, I just told you how to beat the scenario. I'm not telling you anything else. Well, okay, except this: If you can build a good Wild Mouse, you can build a good Virginia Reel. I pulled about mid-6 excitement on my first one without really trying.

I like your tip, better than getting all macho on me ... anyway, I had two great rollercoasters. Virginia, and that Side Friction, down at the bottom of the cliff, one on each side. Had thrill rides (one side) and slower rides (other side) plus a chair lift going from one side to the other at the top. I had money for admission, plus a coupla cents for rides. Everyone paid everything, got the award for best value park even, but only got $11,000 + some, for value. Ugh! :P

...any more than you want to be 'Worst Value'. It means you're too cheap! Worse yet, in a scenario like this one, it means you're missing out on $$$ to be made and invested on something else. I'm only in Year 1 so far -- bought it Monday but the Vikes were on Monday Night Football and I wasn't home 'till late yesterday. I might get some screenshots up if I have time.

I don't think that there's a "formula" for building this particular park - I made it the second time through, but just parely... I was watching, and I had a value of like 18.5K... but my park looks NOTHING like anything I've heard here (small coaster near the entrance, etc...)

I've got a BIG wooden coaster on the right, (as you walk in the gate) about midway down, a side friction between that and the entrance, and a monster steel coaster on the far left end. Othe than that, I've got cars in the water, a boat ride, a circus tent.... mostly little stuff.

Toward the end of the scenario, I started to get massive (30K-40K) excess cash, but I was too scared to do major renovations and maybe mess up a chance at passing the scenario... again, please don't take this as any kind of bragging, because if there was a "formula", the game would have actually laughed at me by now, but take heart - if a lunkhead like me can make it by the seat of my pants, anyone can!

Good luck (e-mail me if you want pics, I'll post them if anyone wants to see how screwed up you can be and still pass)
