Getting through the Off Season

Southern Cal and Flaorida Pan Handle Folks need not apply here, your parks are open LOL.

For the folks of the so called snow belt, what are your plans for the winter? How are you going to deal with the withdrawel this year. I have a November trip coming up and maybe a Feb/March to Florida and So Cal, so my off season may be short. This actually hurts my Broadway shows, Museum and other non parks entertainemnt.

How have you planned your off season?

Well, if I want to have an ejoyable coaster season, I have to take the offseason off and let the funds build up a little. So the next couple of months will be spent watching a lot of football (another big hobby of mine) and the Jan-March months are the busy months at work, so I work some extra hours then. By the time that is over with, the coaster season is ready to start up again.

Sean,
I can relate! The off-season allows me to stash funds away in my "sock drawer" so to speak. Without that, I would not go on many coaster trips, since I refuse to charge anything.

I still have some good riding left this season, but the cold winter months get a bit warmer inside when I think ahead to things like SRM, coastering in OH that next week, the ACE Coaster Con at PKD and BGW and assorted visits to other parks near and far.
Thoughts like that provide all the incentive I need to do all I can to bump up my "coaster cash" during the off-season (without taking from the needs of my family, lol).

And this applies, too: "absence makes the heart grow fonder!"

Mostly playing my Xbox all winter long. Actually I'll probably go to Pittsburgh and see the Carnegi Museum of Natural History. Check out some Christmas events at the Cincinnati Zoo and some of the malls.

Bill, not being obnoxious, which comes naturally, but that seems much more demure than I expected from you LOL.

Ed, now what's that's supposed to mean. :-)

Are you referring to sitting on my duff during off season and playing video games? Or are you referring to something else about me. :-)

Bill, who will try and do other things while in the off season besides trying to beat Halo again. LOL!

In the House of Wench the off Season is busiest time of year. Rick's job slows down but Mine speeds up! Everyone in my house has winter birthdays plus the other big Holidays so, I spend alot of time shopping and preparing besides my normal wifely/motherly duties. When I do get a moment to breathe I spend time on the internet or, I watch Coaster videos. Last year a friend loaned me some but this year I actually bought my own. The Season will also go pretty quick with the construction of the new Coaster at Gadv.I can't wait for RCT2 so that's another thing that will help me pass the time :-) .

Does not seem that you sit on the duff very much, so I was surprised that you seem like a homebody. Then again, you live in what we call midwest, which can be unbearable to even walk out of the house on any given day. 4 Years in Nebraska taught me that we should make ready meals for the entire winter and screw going out of doors at all during the months of November to March inclusive.

Yet people in the major Midwest cities brave that weather, even NY/NJ is not nearly that bad. Tie a string to me in Chicago and I could be the most innovative kite in the city LOL

Same here as well, I'm a poor university student so the off season gives me a chance to stash funds for summer trips.

Really, it's not that difficult for me (and my car...) to take a break for part of the year. It gives me more time for school work/research, to catch up on my reading, check out new music, and spend time with my non-coastering friends.

I might also add that having the NHL Centre Ice package on DirecTV makes staying inside on snowy days all the easier :-)
