Drum & Bugle Corps

Hey everyone, is anyone else here into drum corps? I made this post for you all to wish me luck. I'll be auditioning soon for the Bluecoats in Canton Ohio, and if I don't make them, I'm trying out for Spirit(formerly Spirit of Atlanta) in Atlanta. If you don't know what the heck i'm talking about, imagine a marching band of about 135, with just brass and drums, blowing in your ear at around 120 Db. You practice 12 hours a day, tour the country during the summer, and perform shows.

It's a wonderful youth program that teaches music, marching, and the most important, discipline. I hope I make it, and with you wishes of good luck, I believe that I can, thanks.

If you would like to know more, you can go to the link I'm leaving.

I forgot to say for the best idea of what drum corps is, click on the corps links, then go to division 1, and watch some video clips.

I love DCI. I never marched but I've been a long time fan. The Garfield Cadets Z-pull drill got my attention back in 1984! :)

Good Luck. Drum Corps takes plenty of discipline and hard work. I don't think I could handle rehearsing (I used to play trumpet) and competing in the hot sun everyday in the summer months.

Just Brass and Drums??? You forgot about Color Guard! ;)

If you make the Coats or Spirit, hopefully I'll get to see you compete and perform at my local show here in Hampton, VA - Drums Along the Bay. It's usually held 1.5-2 weeks before finals.

Again Good Luck! I hope you make it!

Hey, cool, I'll keep you posted when I know the results of my audition. I also play trumpet.

Yes, yes, I forgot the colorguard. I guess it's because I never watch them :). They do add a nice effect to the show though.

If I make it and you're at a show, be sure to yell for me :)
