Most of my favorite Christain bands broke up but I like Barren Cross, old Whitecross, Stryper, Tournequet, Petra, Whiteheart(not sure how they are now but they were very good)! As you can tell I like the 80s hair bands a lot! So what is the best quality Chistian hair bands still out there for hair metal??

I know Whitecross, Petra, and Tounequet are still around, but I don't know what happened to Stryper or Barren Cross. I bought one of Whitecross' newer cds, it had a picture of a fly or some kind of bug I'm not sure what the title of the album is. It was alright. See, I'm into the hard, brutal sound that Living Sacrifice and Metanoia make. A certain Christian Metal website calls it Christian death metal. That's a type of style of heavy metal like your speed metal, 80's metal, black or gothic metal, and just hard rock.
Bands like Nailed sound like Godsmack, STP, Soundgarden, and Alice In Chains. Pretty cool music.

Here's that website's address.
I like all kinds of music, but as far as christian music goes, I am really impressed with P.O.D. An awesome album, and a great remake of Bullett the Blue Sky. Many others that I like but they have one of the best CD's of all time so I will stop my list there.

I believe this off topic board is a good idea.
Satellite is coming out September 11! It will make a good birthday present for me, as my b-day is the day after, sweet 16!

STRYPER!!! Okay, anytime I say an 80's hair band, it's a joke, although they were one of the better ones (and Christian). I've actually kinda enjoyed Project86, usually when I hear of a Christian band I pass them off as not being able to kick it with the big boys, but Project86 actually can, although they aren't totally my style, they're not bad at all. Crimson Thorn is another one, kinda hard for some to stomach, but they're good, but I'd have to say my favorite is Zao, GREAT band!

Yeah, Stryper! I remember that band & not ashamed to admit I thought they were great back then. How stupid was that. The funny thing is that they would claim to be fine, upstanding christian boys & yet whenever Motley Crue, Wasp, or any other band which they claimed not to be like had a party to debut a new album on MTV's Headbangers Ball, the boys from Stryper would pop up from behind them with a bunch of booze bottles & they were obviously hammered off their *ss. Yeah, fine upstanding christian boys.
I do still listen to some christain bands though. Petra was always one of my favorite. One band that was christain & I believe they are still playing is a band called White Cross, now those boys kick it in the *ss. Besides having a hard metal style, their songs are really pretty catchy.
Back to the topic of big hair bands though....at least back in the 80s, MTV actually played music videos. Now it's been a while since that has happened. The Real World, Christ!, if I wanted to see a bunch of people discussing their problems & their damn lives, I'd just head down to the nearest loser bar. I liked MTV back before the U.S. demographics changed. Please don't get me wrong, It's great to have such a diversity of people in this nation & it is one of the strenths of this nation. I certainly believe people should listen to the type of music they enjoy, but I just wish MTV would realize that there are a few of us who don't get into Rap or hip hop. & so that no-one takes me litterally about my (demographics having changed) realize that it's a sarcastic remark aimed at MTV & their unrealistic view of the marketplace. U.S. demograhics do change, but only gradually.

I like the more hardcore Christian bands. I agree, Project 86 is just plain awesome. I saw them at a big festival (Purple Door actually) last weekend. I'm still coughing up all the dust that I inhaled in the pit. LOL.
My fav band would have to be POD though. They have such great music, yet such a good message (#8 on TRL this week by the way I think). I also like a band from Chicago named Chevelle, some Christian German rock opra gothic band (how does that work??) named Saviour Machine. Let's see what else..... EDL, Spoken, Thousand Foot Krutch, Relient K, Joy Electric :-). The list goes on.

Zao. The best Christian Hardcore band around. Very deep and emotional. Their CD is called "Save Yourself From Hell" Very good stuff, if you are a fan of this genre, I indeed tell you to pick it up.
Does anyone remember The Daryll Mansfield Band? I was actually in a band that opened for them back in, oh, when was it? - 1984! (Those were the days -LOL). I also have a song on the independently produced CD from Seattle called "Alt.Christian Music Vol. 2" (1991?) or something like that. Song #5 by Eric H. A true rarity. Ignored by millions! (lol). Anyways, These days I prefer sort of the folksy varieties:
(Bill Mallonee and the "Vigilantes of Love", Lost Dogs)
I still like some groups from the old days:
The 77's, Phil Keaggy
But I do like some newer groups too:
The OC Supertones -
In fact, I have a night trip at Magic Mountain
]on video tape when the OCST's were playing and so I dubbed the whole video with the OCST's music. At one point in the concert the singer asks: "Has anyone been on Goliath? I'm thinking about using one of the songs
for the upcoming ACE video contest at Mag. Mtn. ("Chasing the Sun") is a great coaster song:
"Put your hands up put your hands up high!" (lol)
P.S. I think Michael Sweet (Stryper's lead singer is doing mostly "adult contemporary" stuff now -Imagine that (lol). Some friends of mine had Stryper music played at their wedding! lol -The Rev
