A question for Eric or anyone on the subject of designing web pages?
I had a site on the internet & yes it was pretty basic & I didn't update it much mainly because my brother maintained the page for me, but rarely had time to work on it much. Now Member.spree.com which I had the page through quit offering free webhosting & closed all personal websites. I would like to put another page up, but how should I go about it? My brother has offered to show me how to desgn & maintain a page, but are there any other sites which still offer free webhosting, & if so, how likely is it they will continue to do so. I've checked into having a service maintain a page for me, but that's out of the question. Way too expensive for me. Are there other places on the net which offer webhosting at a reasonable rate & if so, who would you recommend?

www.yahoo.com allows you to build a webpage for free. You can have up to 11MB of space I believe.

You can get a free site through yahoo.com (geocities.com). Because the site is free there is always an add on the upper right. It is a small box which will cover anything you have up there. This add is annoying and sometimes causes error messages to come up.
I just started a site using hostica.com. I did the $5 a month plan. It is pretty easy to use. It costs like $10 initially, and then just $5 a month. You would need FTP access (I use crystal FTP from download.com which is easy). Through hostica you don't have adds and you have more flexibility. Just go to Hostica.com for more info. It took around 2-3 days to get everthing done. I recommend it.

I also use yahoo/geocities. What I like most about it would have to be page builder.Even though it does cover up your entire screen when you use it, for people like me with small amount of space left on the drive it is ideal because they store all your stuff on their server. I do have to download and upload to them but, I don't have to keep anything On my PC.I also like the options. If your not familiar with HTML you can still get alot of the special effects options like, page transition, text or mouse trail etc.. On your page without knowing HTML.If you need any help and decide to go to Yahoo/geocities for your webhosting, don't be afraid to ask me for help.I have been using it for a year now :)
