Lets talk about American Football (no SOCCER for those of you who call it football, that sport sucks, but that's an American's opinion for you). Talk about anything related to the NFL.

Who do you have for Super Bowl XVI?

I personally love the Steelers. Everone says that they are going to have a hard time this year, but honestly, we could still be good even without Randle El. We did fine last year without Plaxico Burress. And remember, not too many people outside of Pittsburgh even knew who Randle El was before this season even started.

I will not say that the Steelers will be in the Super Bowl because that will jinx them, but I think they have a shot.

Zac

P.S. No dirty Browns fans allowed (that means you Ethan) :)

Just Kidding, but not really ;)

Re: Football by Ethan Ethan Profile at 9/3/06 8:19:05 PM

> Just Kidding, but not really ;)

Haha! Frankly, I'm not much a sports fan, but I love rivalries, especially when it comes down to state against state. I like college football better because I have something to be proud of in that department. I know the Browns stink, but they're my home team and I'll never give up on them.

Do you know why all the trees in Ohio lean to the east. 'Cause Pittsburgh sucks and Michigan blows! HA!

Re: Football by Overbanked Overbanked Profile at 9/3/06 8:54:35 PM

Here's my prediction on whose gonna make the 2006 playoffs. I'm not sure whose gonna be the wildcard teams, and I'm gonna list the teams in no particular order, actually alphabetical.

NFC East: Dallas
NFC North: Chicago
NFC South: Carolina, and Tampa Bay
NFC West: Arizona, and Seattle

AFC East: New England
AFC North: Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh
AFC South: Indianapolis, and Jacksonville
AFC West: Denver

Me being a biased Jags homer, for the Super Bowl I'm gonna pick the Jaguars over the Panthers, I'm not sure about the score.

BTW Zac, I think that PIT will be fine. I dunno about them goin' to the Super Bowl this year, but they definitely will be a playoff team. Who knows, PIT was a six seed last year, and barely made the playoffs and they are Super Bowl champs. As for CLE, Sorry Ethan I think that this is gonna be a rebuilding year for the Browns.

Chris.

Just found out Big Ben won't be playing in season opener!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He had his appendix removed!

Charlie Batch is replacing him. He is a good back-up, but I don't know if he can handle playing more than one game (I'm not sure how long it will take for Ben to recover)

I can see my dream of two super bowls in a row slipping away....

Oh screw you. LOL. I don't care if the Browns suck or if they'll be rebuilding or whatever. I don't care that much about football. But don't talk about my state or this forum will end up being locked when I'm through with it. Say what you will about Browns, and frankly, Cleveland. But don't say anything more about my state.

-Ethan-

P.S. My momma always told me to wear a helmet, unfortunately, the Steelers Organization doesn't think like my momma does.

Re: Football by Mr_Glass at 9/6/06 4:06:21 PM

Go Browns! Why would this be a rebuilding season, we had the same record as the Eagles last year! Well, maybe they had a bad year, but still. It's hard to look at the rivalry, or talent of either team, being biased as most are in Pittsburgh, or in Cleveland. Here's what I think of our offense,

________

The Browns are getting ready for their season opener versus the New Orleans Saints this coming Sunday, September Tenth. What you see on paper is pretty much what you’ll see on the field: Mediocre offense, and what looks like a highly above average defense. Most Clevelanders expect a 7-9, or maybe even a more optimistic 8-8.

Quarterback is a position of interest of the Browns, as it is every year. Charlie Frye looks to build on some of the flashes of great talent he showed last year. The Browns traded Trent Dilfer in the off-season, so now, Frye doesn’t have a veteran to guide him, and he’ll be learning on the job. Last year, he completed 59.8 percent of his passes last year, but has never been a great long ball passer. He was second in the league though, last year, in completion percentage for passes under fifteen yards.

No matter how bright Frye’s future looks though, the depth behind him, does not. Our back-up quarterback position is up for grabs, and will be between strong-armed Derek Anderson and Kellen Winslow’s former Miami teammate, Ken Dorsey. Through the first 3 preseason games, Dorsey came in before Anderson, but against the Bears, Anderson got to come in first. After three very good games, where Anderson led Cleveland on several scoring drives, Anderson played below average against Chicago. It wasn’t only him though, as he replaced a 1 for 4 Charlie Frye in the first quarter, then gave the ball up to Dorsey who ended up going 2 for 7.

We all know that Charlie Frye won’t have to carry us though, as we have a powerful running game.

For the first time since 1979, The Browns had a 1200-yard rusher, in Reuben Droughns. The only problem was that, in the Red Zone, our team was one of the worst in the league. Droughns only ran into the End Zone twice last year. The Browns were in the Bottom 5 last year in rushing touchdowns. Then, Jerome Harrison played himself into the back-up, and third down, running back. He rushed for 1900 yards at Washington State as a senior, leading the country, and has had a phenomenal Pre-Season. He showed great agility and speed on running plays, and caught the ball well out of the backfield. Lee Suggs was traded to the New York Jets for a defensive back, but after failing the physical in The Big Apple, he came back to Cleveland. Both Suggs, and Willie Green appear to be in Cleveland’s rearview mirror, as Jason Wright got several carries before either of them Thursday. If The Brownies have an above average offensive game, it will most likely come from the backfield.

Our wide receiving corps looks to be slightly above average this year. Braylon Edwards is coming off of a major knee injury, but his legs looked strong in preseason. The Browns decided to let wide receiver Antonio Bryant leave in the off-season, but signed Joe Jurevicius, a large target for Frye in the Red Zone. Jurevicius is coming off of a very good year, and will be suiting up for his Hometown Browns this year. Then, there’s the long awaited return of Cleveland Tight End, Kellen Winslow. If Kellen can become what he was projected to be two years ago, it will certainly make Charlie Frye’s job easier. Behind Kellen Winslow is Steve Heiden, a hard working, reliable option at the tight end position.

_____________Anyways, the Browns got much better in the off-season, adding all-time NFL Post-season sacks leader, Willie McGinest, Big Fat Man, Ted Washington, to clog up the middle, WR Joe Jurevicius, who will be a huge target for Charlie Frye, trading Trent Dilfer, and getting The Steal Of The Draft, Kamerion Wimbley. I predict a 7-9 year, or possibly, an 8-8 year. The Steelers will go 11-6, and lose in the second round of the playoffs.

Oh, Carolina wins it all...

Hey Overbanked,

I would just like to say that I know that the Browns suck, so I just have to root for teams that either have a chance at the Superbowl, or they beat the Steelers. And this team applies to both. GO JAGS! They shut out Pittsburgh!!!

Ethan, you're definitely welcome to hop aboard the Jags bandwagon for now. What happened to Zac AKA "imagineer". I guess that JAX shutout againist PIT was enough to keep him hiding.

BTW, what's up with Kellen Winslow acting like he runs the team. I tell you what, Romeo sure did put him in his place, and let him know that he's the coach. I think in the long run that CLE will be okay, but it's going to take a little time. I feel kinda sorry for CLE fans because that BAL Superbowl XXXV win could have been a Browns championship.

You better feel sorry for us, we get screwed every step of the way. Maybe someday I'll have the money to go to bizzarro world so I can see the Browns win the Superbowl. But I probably won't be able to see that. Unless I use the key to victory, my teams will never win.

Key to Victory= Arrogance

If you won in your head that's all that matters.

I'm still here. I haven't checked the OT forums in a while.

Freakin' Roethlisberger had no business playing that game, but I'll give you credit, the Jags have a great defense.

I am so mad. An L to the Jags and now the Bengals. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Bye week next week though, so we can get some much needed rest.

Zac

BTW, just so everyone knows, I hate the Ravens much more than the Browns, because the Ravens were the original Browns and they had no reason to leave Clevland and such a strong fan base. I hope that the Ravens never win another game, while I still want the Browns to do better so we can have a competitive rivalry again.

Browns win! Browns win! Browns win! I dunno what team is worst; Raiders, Dolphins, Titans, or Lions. Pick your poison.

My Jags are on a two game losing streak away from home. At Indy the Jags special teams didn't show up; Then at Washington the defense didn't show up. Basically whoever in the JAX at WASH game won the overtime coin flip was gonna win the game, and unfortunately for me WASH won the coin flip. Hopefully we can end the losing streak in week five at home againist the improved J!E!T!S!

Well Ethan, and Zac yall got some toughies next week; CLE at CAR; and PIT at SD. The Chargers should be pretty pissed off that lost to the Baltimore Modells.

Perfectly leading to my segue; I agree, Art Modell does suck.

I don't care how good or bad a team is, 'cause I really don't care about the teams or football itself. I like or dislike a team depending more on the city.

Steelers Suck!

Re: Football *P* by Ethan Ethan Profile at 10/5/06 3:16:31 PM

My friends opinions on Football:

Well, I'm here....

The Steelers are by far the worst team in the NFL... Just kidding, it's obviously the Raiders. Randy Moss only had one catch against my Browns for only 5 yards. That's with our 4th string CB guarding him. Jerry Porter is a whack job. Pass defense is pitiful, their only strong point is their D-Line, which has Sapp and Burgess, but NOTHING else is good, whatsoever.

Baltimore looks good, which totally sucks for all of us, but Cinci did get slaughtered.

Just remember, the Browns have the same number of wins as the Steelers, and Charlie Frye is tied for the league lead in rushing touchdowns AND total touchdowns. Go Browns!!!

Those are my thoughts,
Mr. Glass

Back to me:

Yeah, that's the same Mr. Glass above a few posts. He's that friend of mine that hasn't ridden a rollercoaster. Let's give him support fellas.

Summary of Football in my mind:

Steelers are pure evil! Browns represent all that is pure (other than evil) in this world. There are a few other feeble teams that watch in horror as the army of demons and winged beasts (that is the Steelers) get slaughtered by the angels and gods of Cleveland (and Northeast Ohio). Yep. That tis be alleth.

Re: Football by imagineer imagineer Profile at 10/18/06 1:06:47 PM

Steelers killed the Chiefs and the Ravens and Bengals lost. Our season might be salvaged yet.

I'm tired of so-called experts on ESPN saying how the Bengals should have won the game against the Buccaneers because of a questionable call. They lost by a point to the Buccaneers. They were playing the Bucca freekin' neers. If you don't beat them by at least 10 points, it should be considered a loss.

As for the Ravens, I was really happy about that game. Not only do I despise the Ravens, but living in NC, the Panthers are my second favorite team, and no I'm not jumping on their bandwagon.

Re: Football by imagineer imagineer Profile at 11/7/06 3:48:00 PM

I retract my previous statement about the Raiders. I would, however, like to correct myself by saying that the Raiders have an alright defense backed up by an atrocious, terrible, aweful (feel free to through in any other adjectives you want) offense. The Steelers are going through a rough season. Let's just call it a rebuilding year alright?

As for the Browns, it's on to see who is going to be ranked third in our division. We'll see what happens in two weeks in Clevland.

Zac, who hasn't checked the forums in a while because I've been crying in a corner since the Raider game.

PS I've been in Pittsburgh the last couple of days and I have to say that it's not nearly as bad when I'm in NC and the Steelers lose because in PA, that's all you hear about for an entire week. It's pretty depressing.

PSS Hey Overbanked, what do you think about Garrard starting for the Jags? Is he better than Lefwich?

Re: Football by Overbanked Overbanked Profile at 11/7/06 5:39:24 PM

> PSS Hey Overbanked, what do you think about Garrard
> starting for the Jags? Is he better than Lefwich?

I don't think that Garrard is better than Leftwich, but a lot of other Jag fans do. I think Leftwich has a stronger arm for the deep ball, and is more accurate. The big drawback is that he can't seem to stay healthly. He is pretty slow on foot. Our damn WR's don't seem to get any kinda separation from the DB's, and sometimes they have butterfingers. The only thing I like concerning Garrard is that he does a pretty good job escaping pressure. Garrard needs to quit staring down the WR's, cause pretty soon those passes are gonna get picked easily.

I'm sorry about those Steelers Imagineer. I thought for sure that they would atleast make the playoffs this year.

Hey Ethan, Cleveland gave San Diego a game. They seem to be coming along. Next year is gonna be kinda interesting for the Browns.

That's some very impressive wins guys (Ethan, and Zac); Cleveland over ATL, and Pittsburgh over the Big Easy. Man, Fast Willie Parker was killing em. I've never been a fan of Vick, and ain't that surprised that the Browns won. Frye looked pretty good in that game. Meanwhile my team Jacksonville got swept by the Texans. That really stinks. Garrard is a below average QB, who doesn't look off his receivers, and he throws into coverage. Our WR's can't catch a cold; That sure doesn't help any. As long as Leftwich is hurt and on the bench, expect Jax to have a inconsistent offense.

Re: Football by imagineer imagineer Profile at 11/17/06 5:36:02 PM

> Man, fast Willie Parker was killing em.

Tell me about it, but he isn't real consistent. Until he can do this for a couple games in a row, I'm not going to say anything about him being a great running back, but I will say that against the Saints, he looked like fast Willie Parker from last year. I think the key is that he ran to the outside on his big runs and not up the middle. Maybe Cowher finally learned that he isn't Jerome Bettis.

> I've never been a fan of Vick, and ain't that surprised that the Browns won.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that all the tv analysts were ready to say he was the best quarter back ever. Well they jumped off of that bandwagon pretty quick after he had some terrible games didn't they?

> Meanwhile my team Jacksonville got swept by the Texans.

That really does suck. It's almost as bad as losing to the Raiders once. Seriously though, Jacksonville is a better team than Houston, with or without Leftwich. There was no call to lose to them even once, let alone twice.

I hope you guys get a wild card, because there is no way you can catch Indy. Speaking of Indy, they should have lost a game already. They aren't that good.

Big OSU/Michigan game today. No need to ask who you think will win Ethan. I'm right there with you too. Michigan doesn't seem to have a chance. I can't wait for them to play this game so ESPN will have something else to talk about.

Of course once this game is played, we are going to have a BCS argument going on around the country. I think that if the game is close, then there should be a remach between the two for the championship. That would be awesome to have the biggest rivalry in college football as the national championship game.

But honestly, this is the most gawd aweful system for finding nat'l champions that I have ever seen. Seriously, take a page from college hoops and have a tournament. It would solve all kinds of problems.

Alright, here I go,

OSU/scUM:

I knew the Bucks were gonnna win, but that was quite a high scoring and down to the wire game for them. I know that they are going all the way.

I was camping furing the game, but one person brought a 6-inch black and white TV, and there was a radio. I was up-to-date on the game every step of the way. We all (my whole scout troop) took off our hats a put our hands over our hearts during the national anthem.

GO BUCKEYES!!! BOO michigan (they don't deserve to be capitalized :)

Browns/STEALers:

Ugggggggggggggh! Why didn't he just hold on to the ball! Don't bop it around nooooooooooooo! Today was a sad day. It looked like it was Ohio's weekend, but they blew it in the end as always.

My friend Mr. Glass (yes, he is the one) was devistated, as was I. My teacher was at the game. She is a big OSU/Cleveland fan and probably had a blast until the second half of the 4th quarter.

Maybe next year huh? Hmph!

Conclusion:

Monday will be great and terrible! It will be great because I can shove it in the faces of the Michigan fans at my school (a select few). It will be terrible because I will recieve the shoving from stupid front-runner Pittsburg fans (not as few).

-Ethan-
Imagineer, all I can say is that even though we lost, the Steelers are the better team and have been having a crappy season next to the Brown's normal season, so why don't you think about that for a while! :P

Maybe Braylon Edwards needs some of that old school stick-em stuff. I guess that was his impersonation of a Jags receiver. Pittsburgh is barely hanging on by a thread concerning it's playoff chances. Who ever wins the college championship, I just hope it's not the Gators. OSU, scUM(like Ethan like to say), USC, anyone except the alligators. Jax is such a Gatortown; I just get so sick of hearing about the Gators. OSU are looking like the overwhelming favorites anyway. I don't got a college team, but it's the best thing going on Saturdays this time of the year. I agree with Zac about the BS errrr...BCS; THEY NEED A PLAYOFF SYSTEM!!! I would be a bigger fan of college football if they had a playoff system.

Hey Chris, how 'bout Del Rio and his suit last week. He was looking pretty snazzy 'eh. I wish all coaches would do that. It makes them look more professional.

As for the Steelers, they aren't going to make the playoffs in the AFC. It's stacked. But hopefully we can finish off with a winning record. I have a feeling that this is Cowher's last season. I wish he would have retired last year after being a champion instead of after some sub-par season.

Hey, at least we beat the dirty Browns. It's off to Baltimore next week. This is our real rivalry, I mean there will always be Pittsburgh v. Clevland, but most of the burgh's hate is focused on Baltimore now. It really doesn't matter how either team is doing. You know you are going to get a good game between the two teams no matter what the records are. Last year the Ravens beat the Steelers by a field goal and they were terrible.

Hey, at least WE beat the dirty Raiders. LOL.

Well, good luck on the Ravens. I'm not sure who I want to win. Either way I'm half ticked half happy. I guess I still want the Steelers to lose so we can get a better record than you and show you up next time around.

I have been having a football weekend. Thanksgiving I watched Miami and Dallas win their games. Today (Friday) I went to the Pro-Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH. Later today I went to a Akron Zips game. They played the Western Michigan Broncos and lost 17 zip (teehee). Well a bad last game, but the fireworks were cool.

Hey Ethan, how do you feel about scUM getting screwed, something is telling you're not losing any sleep over it. LOL. Hopefully Florida will lose to OSU; I don't fell like hearing how great the Gators are. BTW thanks for helping out the Jags with that Cleveland win over Kansas City. There's a ton of AFC teams that's 7 and 5. Jax, KC, Cin, NYJ, and Den. I'm still not totally sold on Jax QB Garrard, but I have to give him his props, he's looking better. Hey Zac, it looks like yall (PIT) are probably gonna finish up about .500 like you mentioned earlier. It's something else coming outta the gate, opening day as world champs; Sorta like you got a bull's eye on the left side of that helmet; Everyone wants to beat the champs. Hopefully #7 will look better next year.

First off, no problemo with the KC win, great game. When it comes to scUM, I am actually displeased. Michigan is obviously the better team. But no matter, OSU will beat the Gators, no doubt in my mind. So your welcome in advance lol.

Other than that, I hope to see the Browns win tonight. We don't have Charlie, but they don't have Ward or Paulomolu (or however its spelled).

GO BROWNS,BUCKS, and CAVS.

All the Jags had to do was win to get in. What happened? The Chiefs are not that good a team. Trent Green is alright, Larry Johnson IS their offense. They are going to tear Indy's run defense a new one next week.

I wish the Steelers had won against Baltimore, because everything that needed to happen to get into the playoffs happened. We would have finished up 9-7 like KC and got into the tournament. Oh well.

Baltimore and a first round bye. That scares the crap out of me. Well at least the Cowboys are struggling. I don't know what I would do if it came down to the Ravens and Cowboys in the Superbowl.

Re: Football by Ethan Ethan Profile at 1/4/07 4:47:53 PM

While I'm glad the Steelers lost (so I can shove it in my gym teacher face who thought they'd go to the playoffs, and win the Superbowl again), but as a Browns fan this is a lose-lose situation.

Knowing my luck (I haven't rooted for the winning Superbowl since the starting from the Rams/Patriots game) the Ravens are go all the way and beat the Cowboys. I hate the Cowboys, but if it's either them or the Ravens, GO COWBOYS!!!

But as long as that doesn't happen, I can focus my attention on Madden '06 (and maybe '07 soon) instead of real football.

I hope the Colts and Bears do well, that's the SuperBowl I want to see.

Stuff I'm Adding In!!!: Not much longer til my OSU Bucks win the BCS Championship. There are actually resturaunts stocking up on gator meat for the big game. Michigan got stomped by SoCal on the 1st and although I wished they played against OSU and got stomped by us again, I guess we'll stick to gator-hunting this year.

We had a turnover machine at QB named David Garrard. It really doesn't surprise me that Jax didn't make the playoffs because of Garrard. I'm already looking forward to next year. It gotta be miserable to be a Broncos fan also; First they lose the game to the Niners that would've took em' to the playoffs, then their CB Darrent Williams got murdered over New Years holiday. I think it's gonna be a San Diego vs New Orleans Super Bowl.

Re: Football by Ethan Ethan Profile at 1/7/07 10:29:52 AM

Ah yes and I hope the Chargers do well. And frankly I have no problem with the Saints either. So if it comes to those two I'll probably go with San Diego, but I have a feeling that because I'm a Browns fan the Ravens are going all the way this year (hanging my head in misery).

Well, at least I got the Buckeyes... who are playing in the BCS National Championship tommorrow!!! Yeah!!!

O-H!!! I-O!!!

I think it was fitting for the OSU band to play to "Titanic song" at halftime. The Buckeyes left the state of Arizona with blackeyes. Are you sure those weren't the Ohio Bobcats playing in Buckeye uniforms? Sorry Ethan, I hafta pile on a little. Oh well, I guess the Gators where hungry and the Buckeyes were gatorbait. Okay that's enough, I'm quite sure everyone in Ohio is still lamenting over that beatdown. How can OSU's WR (Gill) who returned a kick for a touchdown, get injured by his own guys in a celebration. That's unbelievable!

Re: Football by Ethan Ethan Profile at 1/10/07 3:11:56 PM

First off... it's Ginn. Second, e's an idiot... that's why. While my Bucks play great... academics aren't the reason they're at OSU. It was a shame what happened at the BCS Championship Game. But hey, the Gators have 2 national titles now to OSU's 7... I think. Well, too bad.

I'm looking forward to the playoffs. As long as Baltimore and New England don't win the AFC championship... I'll be happy with the outcome of any Superbowl situation. I like a lot of teams in the playoffs right now. And I've finally decided what I really want in this Suoerbowl... San Diego and Philly.

I have to root for the Colts after taking out both of these teams since I hate them both.

As for OSU, they got stomped and that is all there is to it. Sorry Ethan.

And, if I hear one more thing about Dungy and Smith being the first black coaches in the Super Bowl, I'm going to go crazy. Yeah, it's an great accomplishment, but I don't want to have to hear it for 2 weeks.

Wow, good season guys. I guess we can just start another forum for next year.

Everyone in the 'burgh is angry because Tomlin is firing all the good coaches and replacing them with proven failures, except for our defensive staff(if he would have fired Dick Lebeau, there would have been hell to pay). I am going to give him a chance, but we shall see. Hopefully he will be successful, but I have my doubts. Right now though, I am more concerned about the Penguins leaving town because the city won't build them a new arena. I don't even want to think about losing the Pens and the Steelers sucking.

See ya' next season,

Zac

Hey,

Schedules in!!! Seems the Browns and Squeeler will be facing off first week at CB Stadium. Then again Nov. 11!

Well, let's hope for a better year (and that OSU has their revenge on the Gators in football, basketball, and baseball just to show 'em lol).

See ya all soon I guess,
