can someone PLEASE help a begginner out?
im 27 years old and have always been afraid to go on a "big" roller coaster. the thunderbolt at six flags new england was the biggest..it was a very vicious ride, especially the turns..it also seemed pretty fast to me..any recommendations for a smooth coaster i might actually enjoy?..i dont like to go in circles so the coasters with loops seem very scary..how is the batman at six flags..how about the superman ride..they seem too crazy and way too fast..please, any GOOD advice..i have a feeling once i go on my first REAL coaster i might love it..but i don't want to be discouraged forever by going on a rollercoaster that is too much for a very nervous starter...

well, i have 2 suggestions.
if you want a smooth as glass ride with no loops, i'd choose goliath at six flags magic mountain. but, this ride is about 225 feet tall and 85 miles per hour. (great ride)
if you are feeling bold enough to try a ride with a loop or two, i'd choose revolution (six flags magic mountain) this ride is not very fast, not viciously bumpy, and has one loop.
good luck!

hey!
I agree you should try Goliath, too. It might look kinda scary but its really smooth...
if you smooth ride w/ a couple corkscrews/loops you sho try riddler's revenge or SCREAM!! at sfmm
My question is- where do you live? What parks are nearby? KNowing that will help out a lot in letting you know where to go and what to ride without telling you to fly accross the country to go ride a coaster.
Also, while I know that loops may look scary, there really isn't anything to be worried about with them. Centripigal (sic) force will hold you in your seat- actually push you down in it, so you can't fall out. And you're in and out of them so quick you almost don't realize you went upside down.
I would look for a steel coaster first, as they tend to be smoother than wood overall (though there are certainly suggestions) Start on something small and build your way up to larger ones. Don't just jump onto the biggest coaster in the park. Ride the small ones first and conquer your fear step by step. It'll make it easier to ride the larger ones.
And remember- the whole point is to have fun. If you're not having fun and enjoying it, then don't do it. There's plenty of other things to do at parks that are just as fun, though some here might have a hard time admiting that. :P
i am 13 years old and i'm just starting to get into the big coasters. I went to sixflags Astroworld this summer and I went on my first loop roller coaster. I was a little worried when i got on the ride but after going around the loop I was suprised by how mellow it was. To be honest loops aren't nearly as scary as they look. alot of the good roller coasters today have loops so you'll have to learn to go on them. I would suggest not going on wooden roller coasters if your looking for a smooth ride. a good roller coaster to start ot on is California screamin at california adventures. there is a loop in it but it's not scary at all.
good luck
