Thrill of the ride
Why are people drawn to roller coasters? What is it that people love to go fast though loops and spirals?
I think it is partly the adrenalin rush that you get from rushing up and down the hills, especially the speed and banked corners. It is something very different from normal life, and it's very much like why people enoy extreme sports. It's simply the thrill of it all.

Because it's fun.
Beside that point... people like to experience "near death" situations and get their adrenaline pumped, while they are safe at the same time. It's like skydiving or white water rafting, but without the lurking danger.
