Black Hole
What ride model is Alton's Black Hole. Is it a Jumbo Jet, a Jet Star II or something else? Maybe it's a custom design. It only seemed to have 3 drops when I rode it.
Basically, I loved the design but don't like dark roller coasters. I'd like to ride something like that in the open. I wish we had more of those, rather than the small, red "rumble" coasters found at small seaside parks (I think they're Pinfari).
Thanks.
I think it's a Schwarzkopf Jetstar III. I'm not crazy about dark roller coaster rides either. Especially not the classic Spacemountain-rides in DL and DW. I like Spacemountain in DLP though.

They might be better with more lights in them.

It is a Jetstar III. I think it used to be a Jetstar II but this was replaced at some point. Don't hold me to that though.

I didn't even know there such thing as a Jet Star III. Are they the biggest/smoothest/best?
I remember years ago my friends saying the Black Hole had been replaced by what they called "Black Hole II".
I'd love to know more about these Schwarzkopf "Jet" rides. Any websites? Graeme.

No they're smaller and milder. I remember the original Black Hole being as scary as hell - but then it was my first steelie! The first drop did seem steeper and longer than the one on the current ride, and I remember being very disappointed with the new Black Hole when I rode it again.

The whole point of being a dark ride is ...
The original "Black Hole",I think,WAS a JetStarII.
It became "the Beast" when the "New Black Hole"(JetStar III) replaced the original.

Nice one. The link doesn't work where I am at the moment, so I'll try it somewhere else.

Well I didn't mean floodlights, just more "stars".

You're all wrong. The beast and the black hole are exactly the same thing BUT the beast was there first. The old beast and balck hole were demolished at the same time. The beast is no longer there, and neither is the "old" black hole. And the new black hole is a Jet Star III, seing as it doesen't squeak like the old one did.
The beast was the best, though. I first went on the beast at the age of 5. 7 years later I know everything there is to know about the old rides at the amdame tusaddes parks.

OK, thanks.
