"Popular BBC shows such as Doctor Who, Sherlock and Top Gear could be turned into theme-park attractions as part of a development deal involving the Hollywood studio behind Mission Impossible and Star Trek.

BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, has struck a deal with a Kuwait-backed property developer to allow a range of its programmes and characters to be “brought to life” at a new £2bn theme park and holiday resort to be built by the Thames estuary in north Kent, in partnership with Paramount Pictures."

BBC Theme Park

A BBC themed-park in the UK would be a great idea. In the US, there is an NBC themed park (Universal Studios) that has rides based on network programming and network films. Such a theme park would provide a greater variety of rides for anyone who would like to see a Top Gear roller coaster, for example. While the BBC does not have a lot of programming, it would be a great idea that I support even though I don't live in the UK.

it would be really great if they made such attractions) I am more than sure that there would be a lot of people who wanted to!)

It would have been great, but the project just gradually fell apart. The one thing the UK really needed was more competition. Potentially, we could have gained several modern coaster types in one place, possibly without severe height restrictions.

The project's failure had an unexpected effect, however - the UK is entering something of a coaster renaissance. Chessington recently opened Mandrill Mayhem (B&M wing coaster), Drayton Manor and Thorpe Park will get new coasters next year and Alton Towers will get one in 2024. Perhaps things are looking up.
