Europa Park announced on Friday that they are going to build for 2012 a new Wooden coaster in the Iceland section of the park. It will be built by GCI, will be 1050m long and 35m high and will cross Blue Fire and Atlantica...

This takes me back to before they built Silver Star. The rumour was that Europa was about to build a woodie. However, when we saw the huge scale of the plans, we suspected it might be a hypercoaster instead.

Anyway, it's good that they're getting one now. It's notable because Mack own the park, so they build all the steel coasters. However, they don't build woodies so they're getting in GCI.

They are really squeezing this one in! It will mostly sit behind the splash battle and then cross underneath Atlantica SuperSplash and Blue Fire, will be great to see the layout.

I wonder if this is a response to Tripsdrill's Mammut?

Can we nickname it the "Rust Rumbler" until the official name is announced?

I suspect not, no. I reckon Europa Park has so much variety that they just didn't know what coaster type to get this time.

Good for them, obviously. :)

EP-Fans have posted an aerial view of the area in question.

The park have already re-routed the road at the back of the park to put in Blue Fire! The car park to the left of the photo is a relatively new multi-level one for the hotels, so I doubt that will move either.

So threading the coaster underneath Altantica and Blue Fire will be really amazing to see, I can't wait!

This will be the most themed GCI yet, and the ride looks like a lot of fun. I can only assume that this is Graz approved. :)
