The Edge (leisure complex) at Great Yarmouth

The leisure complex at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach is finally going ahead. It sounds like it will have a huge amount in it, including 10 cinema screens, a "large" casino, restaurants and 10-pin bowling.

Presumably, this means the section of Pleasure Beach south of Roller Coaster will never have rides on it again, but I very much look forward to seeing this development.

This is indeed superb news for Gt Yarmouth, especially for employment and commercial reasons in a seaside resort. It's not bad news about the rides past the Roller Coaster because all the best or newer rides are always put near the main entrance to show them off, anyway.

Nice bit of news that, Graeme.

Chris.

Yes, the only things that spring to mind that I remember riding are the very large snake slide and the wooden water chute. But progress is good and, like you say, newer rides are put near the front.

Another development at Great Yarmouth is that they are building a huge port, which I find quite exciting.

Add those things to the wind turbines added a few years ago, and Great Yarmouth is really keeping fresh.

This go ahead should see the renovation of some of the sea front/main road by the south entrance to the park as well I hope. It is quite run down around there.

Very true. It seems to me the council has emphasised the importance of the historical quarter over the past few years (generally the quay running towards the seafront). To renovate the Nelson's Column area would really bring it all together.

I think this is going to make a lot of money for the Pleasure Beach and keep them stable. Here's to a great future. Who knows, one day we may even have a new steel coaster!

For a moment here, I thought Gt. Yarmouth were getting a first generation Intamin drop ride or the guitarist from U2. ;) All jokes aside, this is indeed good news Graeme, and if you haven't, you should post this on the Gt. Yarmouth group on Facebook. :)
