New Woodie for Norway
I found out at IAAPPA that a major new woodie is to be built at the Tusenfryd amusement park near Oslo to open for the 2001 season. The ride will be 1000ft long and one of the fastest in Europe because it apparently drops into a ravine. It is being designed by a UK company called Allot and Lomax with the trains by Vekoma and built by Canadian company Martin and Velemik (dont know if that the right spelling). Anyone got detailed info on the ride layout?

Even so, 3300 feet isn't that long for a woodie. If it's going to drop into a ravine there have got to be some pretty steep upward gradients to burn off all that speed in only 3300 feet...

Hi there,
The ride is in fact just over 3000 ft long and is indeed a ravine coaster, making use of a valley just located to the back of the park. The coaster has been in the pipeline for quite some time, with many design changes from the original proposal by A&L. The ride is being designed by the Manchester based coaster specialists, with Vekoma manufacturing the hardware and of course, M&V doing the tracking :-) It's currently on schedule to open in 2001. And BTW, it look's like being a very intense and fast ride!

Not neccessarily true - it may come out of the ravine to complete the rest of the course. Anyway - who says its going to 'burn off' all the speed, maybe it will keep it...
