Steeplechase BPB

What does everyone think of the Steeplechase at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. This is the ride with the 4 lane racing horses.

I thought it looked tame, but when you are sitting on a horse with only a little lap belt and nothing to hold you in this is for me only second to The Wild Mouse for scaryness at BPB.

What do you think?

I completely agree - it's a ride which proves you don't need height or speed to scare you.

It's actually three lanes, but yeah, it does unnerve some people. I used to ride horses when I was in my teens so I don't mind it so much! You do feel quite exposed on it, though. I find the best way is to lean into the turns as though you're on a motorbike.

Trust me, I admit it when I'm scared, but I don't find the Mouse or Steeplechase scary. The Big One is the scariest BPB ride for me (to board the train, anyway!).

I find it hard to say how much I enjoyed Steeplechase. Blackpool has so many rides, it's difficult for any of them to stick out as better than the others.

Either way, I definitely enjoyed it to some extent and, as it's unique, I'm certainly glad it's there.

Graeme.

The Big One's scary? I didn't find it scary really at all. I found the ride to be a bit of a disapointment, even the first drop didn't really excite me. I always fround BPB's woodies are better, especially the Grand National, especially if you ride them at night time when they are all lit up.

No, not scary to ride, but scary to queue up for. Actually, the scariest BPB coaster for me would be Space Invader, as I didn't even go on it!

its quite some time since ive been there, but i remeber when you come into the brake section, your feet get so close to some wooden railings, we thought we were to big for the ride, and we were about to lose our toes. I thought it was really funny.

!!!!
Zipper Dipper is scarier then Space Invader.
In fact Space Invader is probably the worst thing at BPB. It's not dark enough and it's too short. And there's absolutely no airtime on it.

Yeah, there are some good foot choppers on that ride. One of my friends won't ride in front because of it.

I don't think Graeme likes the dark.
Space Invader is OK - I'll go if it's walk-on but I'm not going to queue for it. As for Big One, it was scary the first few times I did it, but now it's just like taking the bus!

I was quite dissapointed by Big One. I was there, the year it opened, and ive been to japan earlier where i rode Bandit, which was really fantastic. I never was frightened by Big One. I admit that the first drop was quite amazing, and riding it during the illuminations was a wonderful sight, but the rest of the ride is not really amazing, apart from going over the whole area.
I heard that there were changes on the first drop, what are they and how do they change the feeling of the ride?

I never rode the old drop, but apparently the new drop goes out a bit more before it twists. The back left seat is pretty unnerving as you really get thrown to the right. The banking is more intense than it was - it now banks at 90 degrees.
