On February 8, 2019 Kings Dominion announced that Volcano The Blast Coaster would be shut down for good due to maintenance and reliability issues.
The world's first launched inverted roller coaster. Volcano The Blast Coaster at Kings Dominion was a uniquely themed, inverted coaster. Riders flew into the heart of a volcano and blasted up and out of its top through the use of electromagnetic energy or LIMs. The roller coaster then continued outside the volcano with three heartline inversions as the train traveled 2,757 feet of tubular steel track.
