The Beast is arguably the greatest wooden roller coaster ever built. This wooden monster was designed to break all the records when it opened at Kings Island in 1979. Today, The Beast remains the world's longest wooden roller coaster at 7,359 feet. With a four minute ride time, this spectacular terrain roller coaster spans out over 35 wooded acres at Kings Island. To fully appreciate The Beast you should devote time for at least one night ride.

The Beast Facts & History

The world's longest wooden roller coaster.

Elements: Three Tunnels; 540 degree Helix

Two lift hills: The first is 110-feet tall with a 135-foot drop; The second has a 141-foot drop at an 18-degree angle into a tunnel.

2002 – The Beast's original skid brakes were replaced with fin and magnetic brakes.

Opening date: April 14, 1979

Estimated cost: $4 million

Train has six cars with three rows each, seating two abreast per row.

Height requirement: Riders must be at least 48 inches tall
