Space Mountain closed on April 9, 2003 to begin a two-year refurbishment of the attraction. In July 2005, a brand-new Space Mountain with upgraded special effects will return in time for Disneyland's 50th anniversary. Fortunately, for fans of Space Mountain the new one will retain its original track layout.
This listing has been retired since the refurbishment included the replacement of the original track, support structure and trains, thus creating an entirely new coaster. For information on the refurbished and updated attraction see Space Mountain.
