This is the oldest continually operating roller coaster in the world. The Great Scenic Railway was the principal feature of Luna Park when it opened in 1912 and is one of only nine of its kind still operating in the world. An original attraction at Luna Park, Great Scenic Railway continues to thrill a new generation and has become an icon of Melbourne. Thanks to a restoration, this classic side-friction wooden coaster operates in much the same manner as it did when it first opened. Designed with an double out and back layout the Great Scenic Railway features numerous drops, dips and turns. This is also the last roller coaster in Australia and one of only a few in the world that has a brakeman who rides to slow and stop the train. Yes roller coaster lovers, this could be your dream job.
