Unfortunately, after the 2006 season Joyland amusement park failed to open for the 2007 season and remained closed. The majority of the park has now been destroyed by vandals and torn down for safety.
Joyland was Wichita's largest family amusement park that dateed back to 1949. After a two-year closure the park returned to operation for 2006 with new operating partners. Joyland's attractions included a historic wooden roller coaster that was one of only a few that remained in operation. Other original rides include a C.P. Huntington Train, Allan Herschell Merry-Go Round and a large collection of kiddie land rides. In total, Joyland Amusement Park had 24 amusement park rides.
