The final rides on this classic shuttle coaster took place on February 7, 2022. Montezooma's Revenge is presently closed for major renovations.
Stengel Engineering designed and Anton Schwarzkopf built this popular Shuttle Loop roller coaster at Knott's Berry Farm. Montezooma's Revenge uses a fly-wheel to catapult the seven-car train out of the station to reach a top speed of 55 miles per hour in just 4.5 seconds. The train then travels through a 76-foot, 360-degree vertical loop before it ascends a 148-foot tall spike, where it momentarily comes to a stop. Reversing directions the train falls back down the spike, repeats the loop, and passes through the station to climb a 112-foot-tall spike on the opposite end. Reversing directions, once again, the train descends the rear spike and travels forwards back to the station.
