Swooping over sea and sky Manta combines amazing underwater animal habitats with an exhilarating launched family coaster. The ride experience begins in a show building with a 270-degree projection show featuring animated scenes. From here riders are launched out of the building to ascend to coaster's maximum height – 30 feet – followed by the largest drop of 54-feet into a below-grade trench and tunnel. The 2,800-foot custom layout meanders around a section of the park and features a second, mid-course booster launch. SeaWorld, unfortunately, faced burdensome restrictions on the from the overly strict California Coastal Commission which capped the ride's height at 30-feet. Despite the restrictions, Manta ended up being a surprise hit and is ultimately a fantastic family roller coaster.
