Liseberg announced that Kanonen would be closed at the end of 2016 to be replaced with a brand-new B&M Dive Coaster in 2018.
Translated Kanonen means Cannon and is certainly appropriate for this hydraulic launched coaster. This Intamin "Rocket Coaster" accelerates the trains from zero to 46.6 mph in just 3 seconds. From there thrill-seekers are sent up and over the 79-foot tall "Top Hat" element and upside down twice via a vertical loop and zero-G roll. Overall, Liseberg's Kanonen is a short roller coaster at 1,444 feet end-to-end and a ride time of just 50 seconds.
