Nestled among the backwoods of the Old Virginia section of Kings Dominion The Grizzly has a double figure-8 layout that was patterned after the defunct Wildcat roller coaster at Coney Island Cincinnati.

Grizzly Facts & History

2023 – Grizzly reopens after The Gravity Group completes a major renovation and re-tracking during the off-season. The Gravity Group's precut engineered wood track is used in this renovation to create a smoother ride experience. The first drop was increased from 74 feet to 84 feet by bringing the valley closer to the ground and the angle of descent is 10 degrees steeper.

September 5, 2022 – Closed for a major off-season refurbishment.

Opening date: March 27, 1982

Train has seven cars with two rows each, seating two abreast per row.

Height requirement: Riders must be at least 44 inches tall
