Geauga Lake amusement park and the Double Loop roller coaster have closed. The ride was sold at auction to a scrap dealer for $23,000.
Originally one of the first looping coasters in the country, Double Loop in its latter years was considered tame. However, when the roller coaster opened it was "double the intensity" as Double Loop carried riders through two consecutive vertical loops after a first drop of 95-foot.
