Park History

Holiday World & Splashin' Safari opened on August 3, 1946 under a different name, Santa Claus Land and claims that it was the world's first "theme park".

The parks have been owned and operated by the Koch family of Santa Claus since opening as Santa Claus Land. Holiday World & Splashin' Safari maintains a family friendly atmosphere and is known for being the friendliest and cleanest theme park in the world. In 2004, the park received an international industry honor when it was named the 2004-2005 winner of the coveted Applause Award, placing it amongst previous winners like Disneyland and Cedar Point. In 2000, the park thrilled its guests when it became the first park to offer unlimited, free soft drinks with park admission.
