Mason, OH — Kings Island celebrated the 10-millionth rider Monday night on the park's tallest and fastest roller coaster – Diamondback. Mike Brogan of Cincinnati was awarded a souvenir package that included a T-shirt, hats, glassware, novelty items and large sign proclaiming him as the record-setting rider.
Diamondback stands 230-feet tall and begins with a 215-foot drop at a 74-degreen angle that accelerates the coaster's trains to a top speed of 80 miles-per-hour.
The roller coaster opened on April 18, 2009. Diamondback delivered the 10-millionth ride after only six years of operation. The Racer and Vortex are the only two other rides at the park that have reached this milestone sooner than Diamondback.
