Buena Park, CA — Nicole Crabtree and Nathan Vanderweit of Mentone, California, said "I do" and then took off to experience the ups and downs of marriage aboard Knott's Berry Farm's new roller coaster Tuesday. The couple, who said that they wanted to do "something different" for their wedding day, had their first date at Knott's Halloween Haunt and thought that a wedding on board the Sierra Sidewinder roller coaster would be a great way to start off their life together.
The couple chose the date for the wedding to honor the groom's grandparents who were married on that date and were married for 57 years.
What does their family think of them getting married on a roller coaster? "They all think that it is a very original idea and something that everyone will remember," said Crabtree.
The bride walked down a red carpet entering the coaster station on the arm of her father, Carl Moore, and was attended by Peanuts characters Lucy Van Pelt and Sally Brown as her bridesmaids. Everyone's favorite Beagle, Snoopy, acted as ring bearer and good old Charlie Brown was the best man.
Additionally, several members of the American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE) were on hand to witness the nuptials. After reciting their vows on the attraction the couple departed the station for their first roller coaster ride together as man and wife.
A reception featuring a cake uniquely designed for the couple and filled with Knott's Berry Farm's famous boysenberry preserves and a toast with Knott's boysenberry punch took place immediately following the ceremony.
