Historic Starliner Roller Coaster Reopening Delayed

Winter Haven, FL -- The planned reopening of the historic Starliner wooden roller coaster Saturday at Cypress Gardens Adventure Park has been delayed.

According to the Lakeland Ledger, the opening of the Starliner roller coaster is delayed due to a delay in the installation of a computer component. Cypress Gardens did not announce a new opening date.

The Starliner roller coaster opened in 1963 at the Miracle Strip Amusement Park in Panama City Beach. Built by John Allen and the Philadelphia Toboggan Company the Starliner was the main attraction at the park until it closed in 2004.

In March 2005, Kent Buescher of Adventure Parks Group announced that they had purchased the historic roller coaster. Adventure Parks Group with the close supervision of John Fetterman and Leonard Adams then began the tedious task of dismantling the roller coaster and relocating it to Cypress Gardens.
