Orlando, FL -- The internet has been buzzing with reports that author JK Rowling is close to inking a deal to build a Harry Potter theme park at Universal Orlando. Neither have confirmed it, but multiple news sources are claiming the deal is nearly done.
The location for the Harry Potter park is rumored to be an expansion of the existing Universal Islands of Adventure theme park in Orlando. If a deal is reached the Harry Potter theme park could open in time for the theme park's 10th anniversary in 2009.
Steven Speilberg was part of the original creative team that designed Islands of Adventure. The park has themed areas based on Jurassic Park, Dr. Seuss, and the Marvel Comic Book superheroes.
The final book in the Harry Potter series will be in stores on July 21. Also, the fifth Harry Potter movie, Order of the Phoenix will be released in theatres and IMAX nationwide on July 13.
Yesterday, Universal announced they're creating a new ride attraction based on the hit TV series The Simpsons. The Simpsons Ride will debut Universal parks in Orlando and Hollywood in Spring 2008.
