Riders Suing Knott's Over 2003 Stagecoach Accident

Buena Park, CA -- A lawsuit has been filed seeking monetary damages stemming from an accident on Knott's stagecoach ride in 2003. The complaint filed in Orange County Superior Court this week seeks compensation for 13 people for medical expenses and lost wages because of injuries from the accident. Each one is asking for at least $1 million.

According to news reports, the stagecoach's hydraulic system lost pressure. The four horses pulling the carriage lost control and hit a fence after the coach failed to stop at the station. One horse was killed.

At the time two visitors and one employee were sent to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. All were released.
