Cedar Point's Demon Drop Freefall Ride For Sale

Sandusky, OH -- The Demon Drop freefall ride at Cedar Point amusement park is for sale. The park hopes to sell the thrill ride to make room for a new attraction.

Park spokesman Bryan Edwards confirmed the park's decision to sell the ride.

Demon Drop is a 131-foot tall ride that drops riders down ten stories in just three seconds. The four-passenger cars reach a top speed of 55 mph during the descent.

Located next to the park's main entrance, Demon Drop was built in 1983 for $2.5 million. The 22-year-old attraction has given more than 16 million rides.

According to Edwards, Demon Drop will continue to operate while the park finds a buyer.

If no buyers come forward, Cedar Point will keep the ride, Edwards, added.
