Ligonier, PA -- Idlewild & Soak City theme park earns second place honor for world's best kid park in a survey conducted by Amusement Today magazine. The Golden Ticket Awards for amusement, theme and waterparks by readers of Amusement Today are based on surveys submitted by well-traveled park enthusiasts.
"This is a great achievement for us and a credit to our 850 team members," said Pete McAneny, president of Kennywood Entertainment. "Although Idlewild appeals to people of all ages, with features like Story Book Forest and Mister Rogers' Neighborhood of Make-Believe, it is especially appealing to families with young children."
The survey was the first for family and children appeal in the seven-year history of the annual poll conducted by Amusement Today. The industry trade publication selects survey participants from various sources of experienced park patrons at many different parks.
Based on the results, Amusement Today awards Golden Ticket Awards to the top parks and rides in 17 categories. Idlewild & SoakZone placed second for "Best Kid's Park" behind Legoland California and ahead of Sesame Place and Dutch Wonderland.
