Riders Roll Through Kings Dominion On Record Attempt

Richmond, VA -- They call themselves "East Coasters For Kids" and on August 8, 2001 the group of 4 coaster riding philanthropists set out on a whirlwind tour of theme parks in an attempt to best the world record for "Most Roller Coasters Ridden In A 24-hour Period". The group's attempt at the record is a charitable endeavor that will raise money via corporate sponsorships with all proceeds benefiting the Children's Miracle Network. The journey will bring the group to Paramount's Kings Dominion for a showdown with the park's eleven world-class coasters.

The current world record was established in 2000 on the west coast with a group of enthusiasts who racked up 40 different coasters. The "East Coasters" promise to smash the world record and exceed 50 coasters. Aided by two helicopters, the group is confident that by the evening of August 9th, they will secure their place in the record books.

Phil Guarno, the organizer of "East Coasters For Kids" is eagerly anticipating the run at the record. "This will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a true roller coaster enthusiast!" said an excited Guarno.

"Paramount's Kings Dominion is a longtime supporter of Children's Miracle Network and we're thrilled to be able to support the efforts of the 'East Coasters' in their world record attempt," said Richard Zimmerman, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Paramount's Kings Dominion.
