Lake Buena Vista, FL – Legend of the Lion King, one of the longest running shows at Disney's Magic Kingdom Park in Orlando, will close February 23 to be replaced by a new 3-D movie.

According to Disney a new theatre will be built for a new 20-minute 3-D film being produced at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank. Disney currently offers 3-D movies at all of its Orlando parks, except Magic Kingdom.

Legend of the Lion King will close after more than 75,000 performances since it opened on July 8, 1994. The change is part of an ongoing process of bringing new attractions to the park.

Lion King fans should not be too disappointed though. Festival of the Lion King, another show also based on the 1994 animated movie will continue its run at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park.
