Pigeon Forge, TN -- The East Tennessee Toys for Tots campaign got underway on Tuesday, November 13 with a ceremony at the Pigeon Forge Dixie Stampede, the official kick-off site for the region. For the second year in a row, Dolly Parton's popular dinner attraction served as host for the ceremony and is also designated as a drop off point for toys.
During the kick-off festivities, Dixie Stampede representatives placed $300 in toys in the collection bins and then presented Toys for Tots officials with a $1,000 donation. Dixie Stampede entertainers were on hand to greet visitors dropping off toys, and the Shiloh Riders of the Smoky Mountains were present on their motorcycles.
"We're honored to be a part of this program again this year," said Dixie Stampede Marketing Director Steve Cruz. "This year more than ever I think we all understand what a powerful tool the spirit of giving can be. I hope lots of folks come by, visit with us, pet the horses, and bring an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots."
In addition to serving as a drop-off point, those who make a reservation with the Dixie Stampede and bring in an unwrapped toy through December 15 will receive a $3.00 discount on the purchase of an adult ticket and a $1.00 discount on the purchase of a child's ticket to the dinner and show.
Toys will be collected at the Dixie Stampede through December 15 and will be distributed throughout East Tennessee on December 17.
