Pigeon Forge, TN -- With "the stage set for a very good fall peak season the last two weeks in October," according to Great Smoky Mountains National Park Service Spokesperson Nancy Gray, the Dollywood theme park is preparing for the final two weeks of its annual Harvest Celebration, which will be highlighted by a presentation from the Caricature Carvers of America (CCA) on October 26 and 27.
The CCA is a group of men and women who are readily recognized as being among the elite in the carving community across the country. In the Pigeon Forge area for their annual meeting, CCA members will demonstrate and display their works at Dollywood and will also present their "Full Moon Saloon," "10th Anniversary," and "CCA Circus" exhibits, along with a surprise presentation.
Traveling the nation showcasing exhibitions of their works, the CCA performs group-taught seminars and writes trend-setting books on caricature carving. With two books already published, "Carving the Full Moon Saloon" and "Carving the Caricature Carvers of America Circus," the group is working on a third book, "The Tenth Anniversary Collection."
Dollywood's Harvest Celebration takes place October 5 through November 3 (closed Thursdays). Park operating hours during this special event are Sunday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed Thursdays), and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Visitors to the park can double their fall fun by combining the great variety of entertainment, rides, attractions, crafts, and food found at Dollywood all season long with the added bonus of the Harvest Celebration's many activities for a single Dollywood admission price.
