Anaheim, CA -- Disney's new FASTPASS (SM) system made its official debut at Disneyland in November 1999 as part of a phased rollout, with "it's a small world holiday" being the first Park attraction to be equipped with the timesaving feature especially for the Christmas season.
Since then, three other Disneyland attractions have been outfitted to offer the virtual queuing program on a regular basis. These include "Space Mountain," "Splash Mountain" and "Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin." Additional Disneyland attractions are being equipped with the system in early 2000.
Disney's FASTPASS (SM) enables participating guests to receive a complimentary voucher listing a computer-assigned boarding time as an alternative to waiting in a conventional line. This allows guests more time to visit other attractions, dine or shop before returning to ride at their designated boarding time.
"We're very excited having Disney's FASTPASS (SM) at Disneyland," noted Cynthia Harriss, president of The Disneyland Resort. "Our guests' response during the recent testing on Space Mountain was very positive, as it was a real timesaver. The system is already a proven success at Walt Disney World in Florida and we believe it will be a big hit at Disneyland, too."
