Hopefully Morgan is finally attempting to get some things right:

The Waterswings (Chance Yo-Yo) that were moved to the old Hoosier Hurricane parking lot are being put back to the platform over the lake.

The Falling Star which has been disassembled since Adventure Point was built is to be operational this year.

Rocky Mountain Coasters is doing some re-tracking on the woodies.

And some accomodations are being updated.

I noticed this post slipped through without much action, but I wanted to comment.

I really enjoyed Indiana Beach when I went in 2011. The park is right up my alley, and I just loved the atmosphere and the collection of rides.

But the place was in need of some serious TLC. The operations were poor at best, and the was a lot of updating to do.

2013 looks to be a banner year for Indiana Beach in this regard. The back taxes are paid, and the park is moving forward.

From what I've seen online, the park is:

1) Moving the swings back to the platform on the water - clearly taking guest comments into consideration.

2) Renewing the Steel Hawg area with the re-opening of the Falling Star.

3) Updating the dated hotel rooms and lobby, as well as updating some restaurants.

4) Re-tracking the wooden coaster with Rocky Mountain doing the work.

5) Painting pretty much everything.

Keep up the good work, Indiana Beach. I'm looking forward to a return visit soon.

Just curious, which wooden coaster? Cornball or Hoosier Hurricane?

In the case of IB, its dilapidated state is part of its charm :)

Typo - I meant to say "coasters". I believe they are working on all three of them. I know I've seen photos of work being done to both Cornball and Lost Coaster.

I agree about the charm, but in 2011, the was room for serious improvement.

Sorry, this made me laugh..a typo on the word "typo!"...;)

The amusement park rises bold and stark
Kids are huddled on the beach in a mist...

Of course that used to be much more of an appearance of dilapidation than actually being fully run down. I loved how it looked when I visited a number of years ago. Reminded me of an old beach front park. But from what I've heard under the "new" owners it's taken a numbers of steps backwards.

Good to see they're finally trying to fix some of that.

I haven't been there in years (pre-Hawg) but I used to like their hand painted signs. Some had those those "hands looks like gloves" that pointed the way. Are any still left?

That's exactly the way I felt when visiting last year. It has that gritty old Coney Island feel to it. I can't say that there's a park quite like IB that I've been to, esp with that unique 'elevated subway-like' structure with leads to the woodies stations. That being said, I only been there once, and I can see how others (maybe who has been there multiple times in the past) critique IB with it's flaws.

I did like the old beach front feel. I have been to many many parks, and that is the only one like that so far. (There are two in California on the menu.) However, like most everyone else I feel that there was room for improvements. One train operation after waiting until almost noon for most rides to open didn't cut it.
