Of course my thoughts and prayers are for the people in the path of this storm and areas it will affect. I pray for your safety. On topic, Many parks are in jeopardy. Coney Island and Lower Brooklyn are being evacuated. A year ago a extremely high tide put Cape May under two feet of water, This is no different only worse and threatens Moreys, Casino/Surfside, Steel pier and many others. In the 70s Agnes wrecked many parks like Knoebels, Idlewild and others and the thought of this storm moving inland and reeking havoc again rears its head. One of the most resent parks to close to mass flooding was Bushkill Lets all hope things never materialize as bas as they appear to project. Chuck, who has many URC friends present and past in the path of this storm. STAY SAFE, Property comes second!

Awesome link - thanks! I was just at Ortley beach and the Seaside boardwalk with my friend not too long ago - it's about 20 min from my house. I still have power for now and it doesn't look as bad as I expected it to be when I woke up this morning but the wind is starting to pick up now and the worst is yet to come.....
Jen
God Bless you all, and make sure you guys have everything you need!!!
Not sure what the theme parks are doing...last storm, Comet Hollow got flooded in HersheyPark. Luckily we're out of the theme-park season, so there'll be plenty of time to repair and inspect.
Stay dry. :p

I may be wrong, but I believe HP was scheduled to be open for business next weekend. If so, I guess that will be subject to change depending on how badly they get hit.

The only reports I've heard roller coaster related was 30% of fun pier in SeaSide collapsed into the ocean - unknown if any rides went with it. Wildwood was hit hard so I would be surprise.if their rides went unscathed. Jackson is reporting 100% without power so any actual damage to rides may not even be known for some time. I hope my green King made it!
I hope everyone in the storm's path made it though with minimal damage - this was insane (and that's an understatement!) When they close the hospital for 2 days u know it's bad
Jen
One of the lucky ones indeed. What a storm!

What a sad image from Casino Pier in Seaside Heights, NJ. Insurance policies can help rebuild, but this coaster will likely not be saved.

But its different when it involves lives.. I am hoping many people did seek shelter and the loss of life is minimal.

If the coaster can't be saved (maybe undamaged parts of it could be saved), hopefully they will be able to replace it with a new, identical one since I believe the company that made the coaster (Miler) still exists.

I just talked to Mike (beastmaster) on the phone. He is fine and in good health, but without power. He also said his basement is flooded and his whole neighborhood has been affected by Sandy. I hope Paul, Dion, Drachen, and everyone else is OK. Please post if you guys are able to.
All is good down here in DC. We got 2 1/2 days of rain and some heavy wind, but nothing anywhere near the damage experienced up North.

These are two rides I've never ridden. I don't seek these types of rides out, but I almost went this past season to check out a new Jersey boardwalk. I wish I would have gone now.

We lost everything in our furnished basement except for a giant screen TV that we got out when the water was only to our shins..it ended up at the hips. We haven't had power since Monday night. We almost sustained loss/damage to our cars, but got them re-located just as the wall of water was coming up my street.
The picture on the front page of today's Star-Ledger greeted me today (when I finally found a store that was open) with the picture posted above of Casino Pier. I was just on the Seaside Boards a week ago today with my buddy, playing Skee-Ball (beat his ass) and Air Hockey (he whipped mine.) I also beat the hell out of him at miniature golf later in the day. It's ritual we used to engage in every summer until he moved to Utah. We would have included pinball, but the only open arcade had no machines :(
Mike, prayers out for all worse off than I.

The damage here in Hampton has been minimal and I havent had the chance to check out BGW since they closed it up on Saturday. I havent Driven by but I suspect the Rhine River overflowed but have no confirmation of that.
I hope the power is restored and the clean up wil pass quickly.. all of you are in my prayers.
Yours,
Stredain
The Seaside pics are killing me - I was there 2 months ago and I didn't go on that coaster because I was really tired and we were afraid if my 2 year old niece saw me go on a ride without her should would freak out (she wants to go on everything but obviously can barely go on kiddie rides) so I passed. I figured it's 20 min from me so I'll go on another time. Won't make that mistake again, I promise you that. When the governor described the coaster he said it looked like the pier was pulled out from underneath it and it looked completely intact, just now in the ocean. If that doesn't give props to the designers I don't know what does.
I finally got internet and cable back tonight - just in time for my surgery! :~)
I would have died laid up in bed for a week with no TV or computer! I may have actually had to read something! The horror! 8-P
Best wishes and prayers to all who had to endure Sandy - that was surely something I'll never forget.

p.s. And Mike G - with everything going on I completely forgot today was Halloween and forgot my lighted bunny ears I got at SFGAdv :-(

Thanks Rob! I hope to be speedier myself for next season after my ankle's fixed, LOL!

I didn't forget...I was joking about us having a SKELETON crew working here...but it certainly didn't feel like what's normally my favorite day of the year. I didn't even visit Mom on her birthday :(
Good luck with and a speedy recovery from the surgery. I'll check in with you soon. It'll be like old times next season at GA...me being unable to keep up with you :)

Can't wait for the good ol' days to return! LOL!
Don't worry - you won't lose me since I'll have to wear my blinking bunny ears - I'll have to get some use out of them since I forgot Halloween! :~)

I'm more concerned with being able to get home - mom needs gas and that's apparently impossible to get without a 2 hour wait- In Ridgefield now and have to get back to Lakewood. UGH!
Thanks for the well wishes everyone and I hope to be up and running (pun intended) by opening day!

I'm out of surgery and back at mom's. Everything went well - repaired the torn tendon and tightened all my loose ligaments from the chronic sprains. In quite a bit of pain but that was to be expected. I have so many pain meds in different strengths and types (Percocet, Vicodin ES, regular Vicodin) I think the show Intervention may be contacting my family soon, LOL.

Glad everything's cool. I was gonna call ya, but I was unsure which day you were going under the knife. Next week, hopefully. As you'll see by my post on the other thread, gas lines (for the few that are open) are worse than KK on a Summer Saturday with no Flash Pass. I don't even know if I'll make it home tonight.

It looks like at least the carousel pretty much survived! I hope they will rebuild.

I noticed that too. They said there will be a full interview with the owners coming out in 2 weeks that discusses plans for the future. I'll post it when it comes out. I think they'll rebuild. (fingers crossed)
