Las Vegas Coasters?

Hi,

It looks like we are visiting the states this summer, and Vegas will be part of our trip. We will be visiting my family in Albuquerque, so the NM Rattler is on the list. Just wondering if there is anything I am missing?

It looks to me like Desperado and the Roller Coaster at NY, NY are the only ones really worth doing. What about stuff for kids? Are there good waterparks in the area?

Thanks,

Tim

The Circus Circus casino has the Adventure dome which has plenty of rides including a fairly thrilling roller coaster. If you plan on staying in that place for at least half a day as well as riding a bunch of the rides multiple times), I'd get an all day wristband pass.

Sadly the Sahara casino closed down so that coaster is closed as well.

Don't forget about the rides on the Stratosphere. I know they may not be the most kid-friendly rides - they are pretty intense. But you can't fully experience Vegas without seeing it from the top of the Big Shot.

I believe the height limit is 48" for those rides.

As Phil said, Adventure Dome at Circus Circus is probably the best family attraction in Vegas, and Canyon Blaster is a very fun, rideable coaster.

A water park is being built, but is still at least a year from opening. There are no water parks to speak of at this point.

There are no water parks in the Las Vegas area.

Also, Desperado is really in Primm (stateline) about 35-40 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip.

Thanks for the info guys. I was wondering about the Adventure Dome, thanks for the tip.

Since my Dad likes coasters as much as we do, I am sure we will be able to get out to Primm. It's not that far out of the way.

Hey Tim. Glad you'll be back in the States.

Did you ever get on the Boardwalk Bullet?

Hey Pat,

Glad you'll be back in the States.

It will be nice, if just for a couple of weeks. We have not ridden any coasters in the US since GAdv opening day, 2008. Dad and I took the train to the Cyclone, but it was not opened yet.

We never got on the Boardwalk Bullet, since we haven't had the chance to get back to Houston. Maybe we will get there again someday for a missions conference or something.

Let me know if you are going to be in Albuquerque (or Vegas) this summer.

By the way, what have you been studying? Congratulations for being almost finished.

I didn't realize that Speed the Ride was closed that was my favourite among the three. NY NY was a POS. Adventure Dome Roller Coaster was okay.

Ny Ny's coaster wasn't too bad. A bit rough especially on the inversions, but still ok enough for me to tolerate multiple rides on it. It was way too expensive for one ride (which included either a free or reduced price reride), so I figured what the hell and paid for an all day pass.

Yeah, I still can't believe the Sahara closed. Had I known it was going to close when I was there on 2007, I would've taken at least one ride on it.

Canyon Blaster is not too bad, but not too memorable. But if you have an all day pass, it's good for multiple rides (maybe not too many rerides, but maybe 10+ rides overall).
