Who brings the rides to your local fair?

Our fair is bringing Bates Brothers this year. Bates does a lot of fairs in north central Ohio and usually has decent looking rides. Our old company, J&J Amusements was fired after an incident on the Kamikazi ride. We had Nolan amusements from 1986 to 1998 and NOVA before that.

Campbell's Amusement supplies a small little show early in the spring up by our local mall.

Conklin does the CNE.

I have no idea. The fair opened yesterday and I didn't really notice. On Friday I am going and the truck should still be there so I will see and then post here.

Beauce Carnaval and Amusements Spectaculaires (2 small fair companies who do all the fairs in Quebec) actually have fairs around my town! You know what's bad? For the longest while, both would have the same exact rides! Last year... Beauce Carnaval got the lead and bought an ARM Supershot and a Dartron Zero Gravity... Thank god! Modern flat rides beside the Inverter!

Northeast Ohio has the "pleasure" of seeing many different shows come through town- Bates, J&J Amusements, Mid-America Shows, Great Lakes Expositions (one of the absolute worst shows out there), Kissel Bros., and Amusements of America. AoA is far and away the best of the bunch while Bates is also a respectable show. GLE is just downright nasty. Half of the lights are burnt out on the rides, the rides are in sad shape (sorry, but the paint jobs don't hide the wear and tear), and they even still travel with an inflatable Titanic slide. Ugh!

Not sure who is doing our Lake County Fair this year. After the Amusements of Buffalo dodgem fatality 2 years ago, AoA was booked in last season (with what must have been their bottom-of-the-barrel unit), but they don't list it on their website this year.

Amusements of America has had the control over the Meadowlands Fair since its inception. Not always a good thing to have a monopoly.

From what our local paper said the ride was down all day near the end of the fair and the fairboard had a fit over it. I personally think they just were looking for a way to bring Bates in. I personally liked the way most J&J's rides looked. And I will be forever greatful to them for bringing a double ferris wheel to the 1999 fair. We used to have that ride everyyear but 1999 was the first in 14 years. It never came back so I assume the company sold it or retired it. But it was great to have it back even for one fair.
Bates is a good ride company but it didn't bring its best rides to our fair. The Pharoah's Fury and Typhoon were some of them. Also bates brought less rides than usual.

Ray Carmack Shows suppilies the rides for the LA county fair, as well as most of the fairs in CA (even the State Fair).

J&J Amusements out of Ohio did our County fair this year and did a great job. Does anyone have an e mail address for them? We are looking into ideas for our Fire Department 100th birthday in a couple years.

Bates Brothers started doing are fair about three years ago. They brought their Hurricane,Fireball,Kamikazie(last year and I was in heaven).I didn't go this year but head my mom see what rides were there,The Zipper,Ring of fire,Hurricane(downdraft verson).Nice show.Bartlebaugh does three carnivals in the area,2 in spring,1 in fall. They have a loop-o-plane,casino,paratrooper,sometimes bring the other units Flying Bobs,Gravitron,or Roundup. Benners Amusements used to do our fair but they have Bates now for 3 years and the rides price is included in the gate 5.Cant go wrong with Bates. There is or was Midvalley(Benners)not to be confused with the other Benners that had the Skydiver,Skywheel,YoYo(that was an eyesore w/ rusty chains),junky Zipper(rides with flying bolts and rust galore).

We have a lot of fairs and carnivals here in Michigan. One of the biggest is the Ionia free fair, which is presented by Wade Shows. Others are done by Farrow Amusements or Crown.

There is also a local carnival company that does one location after another, and that is Playland Amusments. They Do the Holland Tulip festival, Coast Guard festival, and the Muskegon Summer celebration that also features major concerts. I think they also do the Cherry festival in Traverse City, and The Baby food festival in Fremont.

Not sure which outfit does the Allegan County fair, but that is another big one. Unfortunately our biggest fair, The Michigan State fair no longer exists. That was one of the biggest carnivals I have ever scene in my life, with a lot of really great rides. But in the last few years, the carnivals that come through have been over-priced and boring.
