What's your Park to Coaster Ratio?

I don't know how this concept popped into my head. I was just looking at my coaster count. I guess I'm a little bored.

You take the number of coasters you've ridden and divide that by the number of parks you've been to.

Mine is 4.89

I guess that means on average, every park I've been to has 4.89 coasters. Parks like Epcot and MGM Studios took my average down, but that's ok. It's kind of an interesting number.

What about everybody else? No cheating!!

Let's see if this could actually mean something.

Mine is 4.16 that seems so low compared to all the coasters I have ridden!! Good post!!

149 coasters, 33 parks, that would be 4.52. I guess all the smaller parks cancel out the larger parks.

Re: What's your Park to Coaster Ratio? by Coaster-Phile Coaster-Phile Profile at 12/12/02 3:55:14 PM

My average would be 4.68.
Ratio would be 89 Coasters to 19 Parks.

Re: What's your Park to Coaster Ratio? by chris at 12/12/02 4:25:24 PM

Interesting...

I've been on 155 coasters at 31 parks, so my ration of coasters to parks is 5:1.

Re: What's your Park to Coaster Ratio? by CoastermanMike at 12/12/02 7:24:32 PM

I've got 228 coasters with a park total of 35 which turns out to be 6.51:1 ratio.

140 coasters at 25 = 5.6

Surprisingly high given the number of smaller parks I've been to, interesting post...I'd think that the higher track record people would likely have the lowest averages since they would have run out of large scale parks, and thus, would visit more small guys...

I was randomly searching previous posts here on URC from the past. I guess I was a numbers nerd 8 years ago too.

8 years later, I'm at 226 coasters from 45 parks, for a ratio of 5.02:1, up from 4.89. I guess I've hit some larger parks since then.

I guess it should be Coaster to Park Ratio, not Park to Coaster.

Zombie Post!...Back From The Dead!

I can only go by the numbers I keep on another site, numbers that I consider un-official, as I've stated before. My numbers are probably slightly higher, but it's all I can go by. 279 coasters at 46 parks for a ratio of..lemme punch some buttons on this here calculator...6.06:1

It's an interesting number, but I can't say since I don't keep a track record.

I think the 4-to-5 coaster average says a lot about how many coasters most parks really have. They can't all be like Six Flags and Cedar Point.

Just in time for Halloween!

My ratio is 4.9 (133 coasters, and 27 parks)

84 parks and 405 coasters: that's 4.82.

And I'd expect, as time goes by, that this number will gradually increase as parks add a coaster here and there.

I think your typical small park has 2-3 coasters, and your big theme parks bring everyone's ratio into the 4-6 range.

I guess if I didn't count Epcot and MGM in my figuring since they didn't have coasters when I last visited, I'd be at 43 parks (and I use 'park' loosely, counting the Vegas casinos as 'parks'). That would make my number 5.25.

Mine's on the high end as I haven't visited too many small parks yet. 196 coasters at 33 parks = 5.94!

It also helps that I have ridden more rollercoasters than exist at some parks, such as BGW. They only have 4 coasters but I've ridden 7 there!

39 parks
235 coasters (Oh, to get 250 by the end of the year!)

6.03 for me

Re: What's your Park to Coaster Ratio? by CarolH at 10/27/10 5:57:06 PM

Mine is 3.51, guess I have visited to many small parks! :)

You can never visit too many small parks, Carol. Long live the small parks!

And it looks like I need to seek out and visit a few more of those wonderful small parks in order to match that nice low ratio :-)

Mine stands at 3.78 as of now.

My Park to ratio coaster is 4.57 . What doesn't help me is that I didn't do some mega amusement parks like CP, SFOT, SFSTL, Carowinds... I did a lot of smaller amusement parks in Asia and Europe, with 1 to 4 coasters each.

I am actually very proud o my low count Rick. Hence the smiley.

Our recent trek to Florida included stops at Old Town & Fun Spot USA in Kissimmee, along with most of the big guys (we did pass on the house of the mouse this trip.)

I know you're proud of that ratio Carol, and I was actually disappointed mine didn't come a bit closer to your gold standard :-)

We'll be staying on property with the Mouse as well as at Universal next month - 6 nights at the WDW Dolphin, then 5 nights at Universal's Royal Pacific. But in addition to the "big boys", I'm sure we'll manage a short visit to Old Town & Fun Spot in Kissimmee. I'm also trying to fit in a road trip for the Dania Beach Hurricane while we're at it!

Get thee to Fun Spot, Rick.
If only for...link below...which Ed and I rode together this past February (after literally searching for an op to let us on it). I hadn't been on one in probably 40 years!

Can you say "Erector set?" I knew that ya could!

VERY cool, Mike. I think the only double wheel I've been on was at Hershey, unless I'm mis-rembering that they had one..and that was a different style.

Casey and I have 312 coasters at 99 parks for a very low 3.15. Looks like lots of small 1 coaster park cre-ho action for us. LOL

Erector Set indeed! I haven't been on a double ferris wheel in (gulp) decades. A side trip to Fun Spot is a must now, if only for that.

I actually do not count it. As long as I have fun!

Re: What's your Park to Coaster Ratio? by skc2000 at 12/7/10 1:49:04 AM

My park to coaster ratio is 4.97 which is 378 coasters at 76 parks.I have been to every Six Flags; Cedar Fair; Busch & Disney park in the usa & canada.I probably have the highest coaster track record of anybody that hasn,t travelled out of the usa & canada.
