Before They Were Stars?

Just curious if anyone would like to share, if you have any, experiences of seeing performers who later became major stars...you know, when they were unknown or close to it. I have two: Back in the early-mid 80's, I was talked into seeing a heavy metal concert in Staten Island. The headliner was a group called VENOM...and the opening act, who didn't even have an album out at the time and is still the LOUDEST band I ever saw...was METALLICA. And in the late 80's I went to Caroline's Comedy Club at the South Street Seaport in New York to see Joe Bob Briggs, aka John Bloom, a humorous newspaper columnist, film critic, and author...one of his warm-up comedians was Ray Romano.
