Help please to satisfy my curiosity - Half way through the construction of The Space Invader at BPBeach a ride called The Cyclone sprung up(similar to Wild Cat at Southport). It was situated approx where the Avalanche is now. Thing is,when I returned the following year the cyclone had disappeared and the Invader had opened boasting a very similar smooth ride albeit in pitch dark. Was it the same track? Was the Cyclone uprooted and become the Invader |

I'm not sure - maybe it was that ride that is now at Southport. If you want to see what Space Invader looks like, take a look at the Flying Trapeze at Flamingoland - it's the same model.

Isn't Space Invader some kind of Schwazkopf ?

Nah - it's Zierer I think, although it might be based on a Schwarzkopf design.

Hmmm ... often wondered. Those in-line cars made me think it was one of Anton's designs ,but it does kind of remind me of "Tigg'rr" layout at Indiana Beach (difficult to compare in the dark!!)
Anyway ,thanks for that & I'll (hopefully) C U @ Blackpool Bash.

I know the Wild Cat at Southport was designed by Schwartzkopf but has been there since 78 so it couldn't have been at BPB around that time.

Actually it's a Pinfari, not a schwarzkopf.I wasn't suggesting if it was the same ride,I just wondered if Space Invader was a Schwarzkopf.

Oh sorry, I don't know the answer to that. I am a little confused though, I thought the Wildcat was manufactured by Pinfari but designed by Anton..??

I suppose it could've been ... all I know is it's a Pinfari Zyklon Z40 (apparently!) and there's about a million of them dotted all 'round the world (mostly in small sea-side parks) Cheerz :)
