Alton Towers Bans Tight Trunks
If you go to Splash Landings, you can't wear tight trunks. Spoilsports, eh? People are getting very sensitive to this sort of thing. Now don't get me wrong, I wear swimming shorts myself, but surely trunks are better for going down the flumes? |

That's funny! I expect parks to do that here in the US, not Europe! LOL |

Re: Alton Towers Bans Tight Trunks
Very strange, prudish and dare I say: a step backwards! Here in Germany there is currently the OPPOSITE reaction from baths and water-parks: They are banning the ultra-long trunks that are fashionable with the kids. They claim that the longer trunks are a safety risk on many waterslides as the cloth can get caught in weldings or other protruding places. Furthermore they are deemed to be a health/hygienic risk. It seems that many people are using the pools and slides with trunks they are wearing during the day in the summer. They just walk in from the streets and hop into the water without changing. And the best part: The long, heavy cloth is unfriendly to the environmyent (and the watercosts of the bath). They showed on TV that long, cotton trousers are soaking up large amounts of water, which actually decimates the waterlevel considerably when hundreds of people with these trunks exit the pool! |

That's what I thought. I'd like to point out my shorts are very small and lightweight. I bought them in France! :) |

i wouldn't take it too seriously, its all just a shameless marketing ploy to get people in the press taking about the water park (aka the puddle) in the school holidays in other news . . i support the aqualibi speedo policy purely for hygine reasons alone . . honestly ;) here's JaiB modelling the infamous sign

Hmm, I suspected this soon after I posted it - I think they do a "silly story" every year, don't they? I could kick myself for helping them with their marketing, but it's an amusing story anyway. > in other news . . i support the aqualibi speedo policy
> here's JaiB modelling the infamous sign My problem with that sign is that it only shows the two extremes. Are Daniel Craig "Casino Royale" style trunks allowed, for instance? |

I had already crossed off "A pair of Budgie Smugglers" from my Christmas wish list as well. :-)

I'm utterly compelled to quote "Sugar Lumps" by my favourite band, Flight of the Conchords: I see you girls checkin' out my trunks
The rest is a little bit too rude to put here, but check it out on YouTube! |

> here's JaiB modelling the infamous sign That pic is hilarious! Especially since I myself could never wear a Speedo. It's too small and looks too much like panties. The guys might as well wear Victoria's Secret undergarments to the water parks there since they aren't much different from Speedo when it comes to being skimpy! :P :D |

Brilliant, just brilliant! One the one hand, you've given me a laugh. On the other, you've ruined my appreciation of Victoria's Secret. ;) hatt:
Yeah, that one's even sillier. |

Re: Alton Towers Bans Tight Trunks
Oh here I am, all buffed and ripped, and I can't wear a bloody Speedo... lol! Grazza, your Conchords ref reminded me of an old SNL skit with Steve Martin (and can't think of the other) doing the whole 'we are wild and crazy guys. we wear tight pants so the ladies can see our bulges...' Or that last bit might be the Family Guy spoof. |
