Thorpe Park off to disastrous start.

Just read some scathing reviews of Thorpe Park at the weekend. Considering it was the main public opening of Saw, you would have hoped for a better day fo the visitors. However.....check this.....

Click on the link and when the page has loaded, scroll down to Kryn's post and from there you will get a grim picture of thorpe's opening weekend....

My family are going over Easter and I am very worried about what lies ahead for us. I just hope Thorpe can get things sorted.

Chris.

My god that IS aweful. The park have some serious explaining to do.

I don't think I will be visiting keenly this year.
Utterly ridiculous - even my local park PWH would manage a day of stress - this is a national chain!

Thorpe's outlook looks bleak.

Re: Thorpe Park off to disastrous start.

I'm afraid I just think Thorpe Park is incredibly crummy! From the disappointment of dropping the planned B&M to the highly dubious "Saw" theme and now these breakdowns!

It's not even a World's First - it's the 3rd Euro Fighter in the UK! Seriously, you'd think there would be a set of known problems with this type of ride (if any) and there would be a clear solution. For example, if Rage has had the same problem (whatever it is), can they not get the solution from Adventure Island or Gerstlauer?

Re: Thorpe Park off to disastrous start.

That's quite a shocking report. I understand that they had to do something if the ride went down but evacuating the whole area was a bit much... as kryn said, a lot of people would've liked to stick around just to look at the theming. The ride's brand new, after all. There's a lot to take in.

Re: Thorpe Park off to disastrous start.

Thorpe park definatly had a disasterous start to the season, i was one of the unfortunate people went to Thorpe park excited about riding the new ride and at my first visit to Thorpe park. I took along several friends and we all drove form York to Thorpe park only to be told after paying for our tickets and entering the park that the following rides were closed

Stealth
Colossus
Loggers leap
Saw
Slammer

With all of these major rides closed the queues for all of the open rides where readching the 90 - 100 minute waits during the day, after waiting just over an hour to ride nemesis inferno we decided to but fast track ticets for the rest of the day, only to be informed that they were no longer being sold. After a good 20 minutes of complaining to customer services and the park management we manged to get all of our money back along with fast pases for all of the open rides which saved the day.

This really wasn't a good impression on our first visit to Thorpe park and i won't be rushing back to visit.

At the end of the day they issues everyone in the park with free ruturn tickets, which is the least they could do.

Re: Thorpe Park off to disastrous start.

I visited the Park today and the rides closed where.

Stealth
Tidal Wave
Loggers Leap
Slammer

A lot of work going on with Slammer.

Tidal Wave had no vehicles or water in it so could be a while away from opening did not see anybody working on the attraction.

Did not go close to Loggers Leap so do not know if anything was happening in regards of repair of maintenance.

Stealth did not see any work on the attraction but did witness a van belonging to a hydrolics company being escorted out of the area by security so they may have been working on it.

Saw did close a couple of times for about 15-30 mins a time some of those to clean it.

A lot better visit than I was expecting after reading comments about Saturday and Sunday.

Being Thorpe Park though may not be the same tomorrow?

Re: Thorpe Park off to disastrous start.

You have to take into consideration that it is an Alton Towers fan site, so chances are its probably blown out of preportion by the Alton fanboys

And at the end of the day, ride break downs cant always be helped, though Slammer is probably the most un-reliable ride in the world.

A fair point but im sure there are some thorpe fans who feel like the rest of the public, who were huuuugely let down.

Re: Thorpe Park off to disastrous start.

Personally I don't think Thorpe Park have any reasons for their poor service. Just a shedload of excuses.... I haven't been this year yet although I am planning a trip fairly soon. I am looking forward to SAW although I'm not busting a gut to get there.

Whilst I still love Thorpe Park, they really have lost touch with their customers. The loyal enthusiasts will keep going back time and time again, but I can't see too many first timers wanting to return (unless they use their free ticket!)

Just my 2 cents....

Tom
